oh c'mon!...you can't be seriously this narrow!...how many of the employees are there part-time just to fill in the few hours their children are in school (and for that matter, does Wal-Mart actually allow these "come and go" caretakers to "come and go" as they please?). I personally know of no such cases, and I have quite a few friends that work at Wally World.
Lower stress?...you've got to be kidding! these low-level jobs only increase the stress when all you make is $6.25 an hour and you need to feed your kids, parents, etc.! (Some places in the country, this is the only place to work.)
I cannot believe how narrow minded you seem!
My apologies to your children and parents!
What was the number of the post you were responding to?
BTW, she is on her own here, and so am I. We generally don't agree on much of anything, even the weather lol.
Anyway, this is one now middle-aged poster who had EVERY reason to vote dem. Unprompted by her mother, she got Kerry's number in the Iowa caucuses and voted Bush.
These are the voters Republicans are going to lose and would gain more of if they would put some compassion where their mouth is and take the plight of the American workers to heart instead of letting corporate contributions and lobbies run their agenda.
I do agree in some cases, it is a lifestyle choice for perhaps some people who just want to get out of the house and earn al ittle extra money, i.e., retirees and so on, but I have seen a lot of what you said where people are trying to make a living on those jobs as well and it is very frustrating to them, especially when they had a good job and lost it. BTW, welcome aboard!
If you think about it, my comments are the opposite of narrow. I am pointing out that there are as many reasons to work at a place of employment as there are employees.
Your comments on the other hand are silly!
does Wal-Mart actually allow these "come and go" caretakers to "come and go" as they please?
----No they are chained to shopping carts! The guards with shotguns at the door allow no one out. Its a Gulag I tell you!!
I am not sure what your apologies are about, my kids have worked for minimum wage (pizza hut) and learned valuable lessons -- I suppose you would say they were oppressed too.
