Famed astronaut Buzz Aldrin announced today that the next time you reach UP for a can of Diet 7UP, newly reformulated with SPLENDA(R) Brand Sweetener, you could be reaching for the stars. In partnership with the X PRIZE Foundation, creators of the $10 million ANSARI X PRIZE, the Diet 7UP Free Ticket to Space sweepstakes takes off this week.

will award one lucky consumer the chance to fly to the edge of suborbital space on an FAA-approved commercial space flight.

The sweepstakes is supported by a groundbreaking national TV ad campaign filmed in an authentic zero-gravity environment, aboard G-Force One(TM) -- a plane that simulates the unique experience of weightlessness. The ad, created by Young & Rubicam, will debut on June 13th to introduce the light and refreshing taste of Diet 7UP sweetened with SPLENDA Brand Sweetener -- a taste that won't weigh you down.

First Diet RC then Pepsi One followed by Diet Coke with Splenda.

This is wonderful. Splenda tastes more like sugar than corn syrup does. These new sodas with Splenda are a lot more like the sugared sodas that we grew up with than the stuff of the last 2 decades.

Almost like getting Coke in Mexico then. I miss the old sugared stuff. Splenda is a great no-cal substitute.

I'm much too innocent for that. I meant the Coca-Cola that is sold in Mexico. Sugar is cheaper than corn syrup down there.

Diet Rite is Spenda-sweetened as well. Don't know of any Splenda-sweetened root beer yet--does anyone?

I might just have to switch off drinking Diet Dr Pepper for a few months...

Anybody but me see this and instantly think "Have Spacesuit Will Travel"? Are the 11th-to-hundredth prizes surplused space suits?

I might just have to switch off drinking Diet Dr Pepper for a few months...

Because of the prize, or because of SPLENDA?

I can't wait for them to come out with Mountain Dew made with Splenda.

Mountain Dew is the nectar of the gods for those who hate coffee.

I've already "won" a free 2-liter of 7UP...

But be forewarned...
You have to *register*, and provide certain demographic information..
You may be exposing yourself to a flood of SPAM...
