Bush denies Democrats Bolton files
The Washington Times ^ | May 28, 2005 | Stephen Dinan and James G. Lakely

Posted on 05/28/2005 12:01:20 PM PDT by concentric circles

The Bush administration said yesterday that Democratic senators should not expect to get the documents they are seeking before they will allow an up-or-down vote on John R. Bolton...

"They have what they need," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. "The Democratic and Republican leaders of the Intelligence Committee have had access to this sensitive, highly classified information. The Democrats clamoring for it have already voted against the nomination. This is about partisan politics."

...The documents sought by Democratic Sens. Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware and Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut are e-mail messages and other background material for congressional testimony Mr. Bolton was to give in 2003 about Syria's weapons programs and 10 foreign communications intercepts the nominee requested in his current role as undersecretary of state for arms control and international security...

... Republicans said the requests for information are just a delay tactic.

The top Democrat and Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee have seen redacted versions of the intercepts, and concluded nothing could be learned from allowing Mr. Biden to see censored versions.

Sen. Pat Roberts, Kansas Republican and the committee chairman, went further, saying that releasing the intercepts to anyone else would set a bad precedent for compromising some of the most sensitive intelligence...

Sounds like McCain may be working for Hillary. Create a split in the GOP, gather top secret documents.

Once again, President Bush is proving himself to be one of the few Republicans in Washington who has a spine.

They are top secret documents, and why these freakin senators want to muck about is beyond me.

They're Democrats, I am sure one or more of them has been bribed by foreign countries and they (democrats) will pass this top secret information to those countries if they get a hold of these documents.

Multiple sources?? LOL! Impressive ones, too, I'm sure....

Don't worry. I'll leave you alone since you obviously can't handle the criticism.

NM might as well make plans for the remnants and stop whining about it -- Cannon is gone.

Unfortunately, I don't have high hopes for the state to do something intelligent with it....

I pray that I am never in a position to choose between McCain and the likes of Hilary or some other socialist. I just may have to miss the 1st Election since I turned 21.

I'm with you. Not only is McCain wrong on many issues, he is not smart enough to deserve our votes.

Many really don't understand the deep implications of the situation being played out here. IF BOLTON IS RECESS APPOINTED ALL THE TENSION IN THE SITUATION WILL BE LOST!!! Ask a chess player what I mean if you don't understand this! This type of chaotic action is ALWAYS what occurs when there is an epochal power shift in America. Look at the posts I'll link below for some descriptions...

Don't give up, and stay tuned, and keep the Pressure on the Senators and RINOs and the RNC - Frist has CLEARLY prepared the battlefield for this type of scenerio since January, and probably before that. Things are going quite predictably - do you think HE doesn't know there are RINOs in the Senate? - and 6-8 weeks from now, when the smoke starts to clear, we'll be able to assess the real result of this. We're in the middle of the smoke now.

These all detail some history. This is what ALWAYS occurs during a major sea change in American politics. I've seen other articles about other periods, but those will do for now.

The former majority has to be shown who is boss --- and that is typically chaotic - and the lesson is harder for them than for the new majority.

Bush doesn't have the balls to do it.

Bush has made 110 recess appointments. By your definition, that's a lot of balls.

After the vote, Democrats made it clear that, while they may eventually have an up-or-down vote on Mr. Bolton, they don't want him to succeed.
"Send us someone else," Mrs. Boxer said.

We don't like him!

We're supposed to be the majority party and make decisions like this!

America is on our side, even though they consistently vote against us!

Make mean old Mr. Bush stop!

Oh. One more question.......

Am I restricted from posting to you all the time, or is that only when you make comments disparaging the President's masculinity?

Feel free to consult your 'sources' and get back to me when they tell you what your answer is.........

Biden said the other day he would view the highly classified documents in a secure area .there was nothing to worry about ...............but would it be ok with everybody if he stuffed a few pages in his socks and down his pants?

What if you say something well thought out and intelligent, and I agree with you? Should I still ignore you?

And why should I leave you alone? I take part in intelligent discussions with many, many freepers with whom I disagree all the time, and have for over four years.

What's wrong with you that I have to ignore you? (You can take the time to ask your advisors for the answer if you can't figure it out yourself........you know....those 'multiple sources' who tell you what to do? I'll wait).

All I need is to know whether or not I should ignore you if I think you've made a good point too?

(No one has ever made these 'rules' for me before, so you'll have to help me out......)
