He argues that schools have been given enough money and that any more funding would force cuts to other programs.

Oh Arnold, are you starting to get the picture? It's never enough money, because it also buys they political power.

Who would have guessed? They have no history of this kind of agenda.

Correct me if I'm wrong...isn't this the same legislative body that just voted itself a pay raise??? Where do they think they are, Massachusetts?

Hey, they got theirs...and now they want yours, too!

If I was Arnold, I'd mention the pay raise at every single public event.

Sure. Go ahead an hike the income tax on your most productive folks. Then watch 'em head east.

The A-holes just got passed a new tax on the wealthy last big election because a majority of the voters felt this wasn't coming out of their own wallet.

Eventually, these wealthy people who most often are also big employers in this state, will leave or retire.

What then CA State Democrats?
These Democrats are so detached from what makes a state go.

Boy Arnold has a boat load with these turds to deal with.

When left wing oligarchs say "tax the rich (or wealthy)" they usually mean those that "earn" their incomes through pursuit of a productive activity. Examples of productive activities are a regular 8 hour job or owning a small business. Left wing oligarchs are trust fund or corporate welfare leaches with protected money streams. Therefore, people like that can always say with a straight face, "Tax the rich!" without hurting their financial interests.

Remember when the democrats put out the bulls**t that Clinton's HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, was a community college professor and mayor of San Antonio who lived on $25,000 a year? They didn't tell you about the big multimillion dollar development company he owned. Blah Blah Boxer, Nancy "Bimbo" Pelosi, and Diane Not-so-Feinstein are the cut out of the same bolt of left wing oligarchical cloth. They want to be rich at the expense of the rest of us.

In California the highest tax rate (9.3%) starts at around income of $40,000/year... this is hardly wealthy , especially in California.

I like it. The Dems are acting on impulse and not thinking. Of course, given that their intellect still runs at an IQ of about 75 I am not surprised.

Why do I say this? If they had an ounce of sense they would not take any acts this year, in parallel withe special election this fall, that would anger the electorate any more. But tax hikes? That will tick off normal Californians and deliver more votes to Arnie's causes come October.

The California liberals still seem to think that class warfare works. But it doesn't. Even the average Joe knows that upper class taxes are too high. The maximum rate used to be 12% (yes, 12% !!!) before it was reduced several years ago. That's 12% on top of maximum federal rates of 38%. Again, even middle-class ordinary folks think 12% state taxes is too high.

Now if only they would propose a tax hike on gasoline...

I am torn: I would love to see better education for children, if for no other reason than to reduce the number of ignorant Democrats-to-be, but the only way to improve school performance is to get the libs out of education and kick out the teacher's unions.

Here in MA, the teachers fight statewide student performance testing tooth and nail, while constantly crying for more and more money "for the children."

Let's get the title correct. It's more money to the UNIONS not the schools.

How original! We already imposed a millionaires' tax last year to fund mental health care. Oh well, looks like the Democrats think another trip to the well will produced the needed money. And there are no budget cuts elsewhere. In Sacramento, spending NEVER gets cut! I think we live in a Monty Python sketch. Its surreal.

I propose we zero out the education budget, close the entire state school system for a year, and revamp everything. The kids wouldn't have learned anything this year, anyway, and they'll appreciate the time off.

Next year: entrance exams. Bottom 30% don't get back into high school, and are redirected to vocational courses. Also, teachers have to re-interview for their jobs and take a test - bottom 30% are not rehired.

Do it, Arnold. Otherwise, you're a girly-man. ;)
