SACRAMENTO (AP) - The state Senate approved a bill Tuesday to create a universal health care system overseen by an elected commissioner, although many of the details have yet to be worked out.

Sen. Sheila Kuehl, D-Santa Monica, urged senators to send her measure to the Assembly so negotiations can continue, with no funding plan likely to be added until next year. Senators agreed on a 24-14 vote.

Sen. Dave Cox, R-Fair Oaks, said the plan could cost $8 billion and predicted it would result in rationing of health care services. Sen. George Runner, R-Lancaster, said other nations' universal health care systems don't work as well, demonstrated by patients who come to the United States for treatment.

A) It's not their money
B) It's an execllent oppurtunity to expand free health care for Mexico's poor
C) It's a sure sign that political districts in California are bullet proof and Senators are not afraid of the few tax payers that each represent.

Thank God the wonderful senator has given me at least a little notice. I might have spent my money on something frivilous, like my own health care.

Good.

There's nothing quite like the Slave Party coming out of the closet in time of fiscal meltdown to let the average taxpayer know what's in store.

Yes, Senator Kuehl's Mexicare Program will come just in time as many of the ERs in California are closing due to funding shortages.

Yes, and now she's nothing but bad news for California.

Glad I don't live in CA!! Are California's happy taxpayers ready to pay countless more billions than they are already paying for services provided to hordes of illegals?? This is a good way to ensure a sharp increase in the flow of illegals across our wide-open border. Liberal demagogues are lunatics, but Rs aren't doing any more about our borders, either.

$8 billion my a$$ - for 29 million taxpayers plus God knows how many illegals? That's, like $200/Ea! Why are Republicans in CA such morons? Why, in an effort to oppose this plan, are they clearly understating the cost?

Completely OT - your tag line.

Did you know that Nascar.com, "Power Ranking's", brought up this little factoid about Matt K. several weeks ago....

He has not won a race since the "robot" commercial started airing.

I love that commercial.

I really hope he gets it back together, so competitive.

Matt Kenseth is a great driver and, more importantly, a real class act - something Nascar needs a lot more of these days.

I now return you to the topic at hand..........

How can they approve this?! Even Democrats should have more sense than that.

OMG! You can't be serious. Isn't the state already bankrupt? If this isn't doesn't fullt illustrate the insanity of the left, well, I don't know what does!!
