End Of Days: When America Falls

No country lasts forever. That’s an inarguable fact.

History reveals three primary reasons why countries fall, governments change and ways of life vanish.

The Taliban, Saddam, Nazis and many other governments fell because of war with other nations.

Revolutions brought on by internal strife, an insurgency, social unrest and disillusionment, reduced respect and admiration of the nation’s military (note that the Marines and Army are finding it very difficult and sometimes impossible to meet their recruiting goals), loss or reduction of social values and norms, and political extremism bring down some governments. Examples include Iran in 1979, France in the late 18 th Century, China in the late 1940s, and Mexico and Russia in the early 20 th Century.

Sometimes governments just quit for a variety of reasons, resulting in ethnic fragmentation, like in the case of the Soviet Union.

Perhaps you noted that America is currently suffering from two of the three aforementioned reasons why countries fall.

Right now, America is fighting a type of war–global asymmetric warfare–that has never been fought before by any nation. Our enemies wear no uniforms, abide by no rules, attack civilian targets, are in 90 countries including our own and want every American dead and the country destroyed.

We are suffering from political extremism mostly on the left; a clear reduction of social values and norms; widespread disillusionment when it comes to the war, social issues, politics, and the economy; and even some strife (a huge homeless population, high bankruptcy rate, a massive illegal alien population consisting of between 16 and 20 million people, etc.).

What makes many Americans think America is invulnerable to collapse or destruction? Such a belief is spectacularly arrogant.

History applies to all countries. According to history, we are far more at risk than what most Americans believe.

Extremists in the media (the Denver Post’s Reggie Rivers, the Rocky Mountain News’ Jason Salzman, the New York Times’ Tom Friedman, Paul Krugman and Maureen Dowd; Bill Moyers, Air America’s Al Franken, Michael Moore, Barbra Streisand, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Ed Asner, et al), politics (Howard Dean, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Rep. Barbara Boxer, Sen. Ted Kennedy, Sen. John Kerry, Sen. Robert Byrd, et al), and our collective societal commode (Ward Churchill, Louis Farrakhan, et al) are trying to dramatically change America as we know it. From their influential (upon many Americans suffering from muddy thinking) positions, such radicals fuel the flames of hate and discontent among those who are repulsed by the very idea of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Fury, frustration and disbelief replace reason and respect when these types are forced to accept major political losses and when they realize most Americans disagree with their fanatical agendas. Their shrill fanaticism acts as an accelerant in creating an emotional inferno among the followers of such would-be tyrants, which increases the chances America falling while advancing the time line for our demise.

Nevertheless, many if not most Americans, in their complacency and ignorance of history, believe we have no reason to worry; that America will always exist regardless of history and the threats currently facing our nation.

How very, very wrong they are.

No country lasts forever??? It's politicians, the betrayal of government, and I add, a perverse media, that bring about a nation's downfall.

Hail Britannia! So far...enduring.

Media didn't do all the damage...

but they certainly help the public swallow the political vomit.... for the common good you know.

The Taliban, Saddam, Nazis and many other governments fell because of war with other nations.

The taliban was not a government saddam was a tyranicle dictator not a government the nazi party was a half assed government bent on world domination by a madman if you want to recognize that as a true governmet i guess you could of sorts but i think the nazis were just world racists .

Running things like a government and actually being one is 2 different stories .

How long has America been around compared to most countries? We're toddlers compared to India, Egypt and China. We have our problems-serious ones, and we need to deal with them. But I'd say we have a few more centuries to go before we start planning our own funeral.

Maybe some people didn't see it when it was posted earlier. Posting it again gives those who missed it the first time an opportunity to read and comment on an interesting article.

Worth repeating.

Please pardon my bringing Christianity into the American equation, but Jesus said that the foundation of the church was the understanding that he is the Messiah. And the gates of hell will never be able to overwhelm a church that is based on that foundation. As long as the church is in America, America will always come out on top.

The wake up call is what we're getting now. Political apathy is inexcusable after 9/11. The reelection of George Bush is evidence that Christians are getting involved and returning to their foundation. Remember, freedom to worship Jesus Christ is an integral root of America's beginning. And America has been for it's history the biggest preacher of the gospel and sender of help to hurting nations. The more the devil shows his face through abortion and homosexuality, the more Christians will respond and take things back.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen. I'm just saying that listening to doomsayers (There are those on the right who think that America should fall just as much as those on the left) can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course, if there's a nuclear war tomorrow, I'll concede his point.

Didn't this happen to Rome?

The situation we are facing now has been building since the late 60's when Liberalism spread in a big way to the colleges.  They got a taste of success with the end of the Vietnam and a more prevalent voice in politics and mainstream culture.  They may not be the ultimate force that brings down the US, but they certainly helped.

WV.. we won't lose America from the outside, but from the inside. It's happening as we speak. it's not those that wish it or fear it.. it is.. happening now. Border XXI, Nafta, Cafta, border stand downs, illegal drivers licenses, judiciary defiance of the constitution, judicial activism, congressional treason to its constituents... it's happening before our eyes, and by 2006, you must be asking yourself, who will the voters be??? Do votes matter when state *ahem* Supreme Courts interpret law based on left leaning personal ideology, when the USSC does the same?? Is there a voice left for the people?? No. With out a MAJOR DUMP in 2006 of these leftists (in both parties), and wiping out the campaign coffers of those who refuse to act responsibly for our American citizens, by 2008, the Presidential election will not be in the hands of Americans.. think about it... the largest electoral states are targeted by foreign governments... voter fraud will be rampant.. licenses for illegals are the magic key for them to vote.. God knows we can't deny hard working, or not working illegals to have a say in laws the rest of us should follow of the taxes we pay.... we owe the world the liberties only our soldiers pay for. The blood of our sons and daughters bring them home to a place they will not recognize. I thought we were fighting for freedom... but no longer.. I'm not sure what our guys are fighting to protect.. certainly not the rule of law and the constitution.

The Roman Empire lasted until 1453, if you date it from the legendary 752BC foundation of the city, about 2100 years. Not a bad run.

We have a Senate, because of them. We have written law, because of them. In 1453 the Turks destroyed a city, but not civilization. The Roman still lives in us.

Will we fall? Perhaps. Will we leave a legacy? I think so.
