In New Book, Weldon Says He Had Secret Terrorism Source Before Sept. 11

Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa., knew the United States was a terrorist target before the Sept. 11 attacks because of a secret source — “Ali” — but the CIA refused to listen, the congressman writes in a new book.

In “Countdown to Terror: The Top-Secret Information That Could Prevent the Next Terrorist Attack on America . . . and How the CIA Has Ignored It,” Weldon details intelligence secrets “Ali” has provided and warns that Iran, not al Qaeda, is the United States’ biggest enemy, according to the book’s description on Amazon.com. The 256-page book, published by Regnery Publishing, will be released June 13.

In the book, Weldon exposes warnings from his source that Iran will attack America next; that Iran, not al Qaeda, is actually the nexus of Islamic terrorism; and that Iran has an advanced nuclear program.

Weldon is vice chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and chairman of the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces. He has been outspoken about the federal government’s lack of attention to terrorism before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Countdown” is his first book. A company in his Pennsylvania district, DIANE Publishing Co., has repackaged some of Weldon’s congressional testimony for sale, for which his staff said he did not receive any remuneration.

Why don't these politicians officially clear up the OKC bombing; then I might take 'em seriously.

America the next target? That's not news. We knew that, we just didn't know who, where, when.

Good point. This Weldon's guys "secret" sources must have told him all about the first World Trade Center bombing that the rest of us knew about.

Told me that BWB was goign to 'steal' the 2000 election and had operatives in the Supreme court.

I knew all of this in 1997.

Who wants to be my publisher?

Duh... Maybe the 1st attack on the World Trade Center was a clue, think?

Weldon's a bit weird. He's constantly grandstanding on foreign policy, and now he's got a "secret source".

A GOP Jim Traficant.

There are dozens and dozens of these articles pointing the finger at Ms. Gorelick and the Clinton Wall – the OCB and 9/11 can be traced to the stupidity and Political Correctness of the Clintons White House.

THE CLINTON'S KNOCKED AMERICA TO HER KNEES – IT MUST NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!

NO TO HILLARY AND HER POLITICALLY CORRECT THIRD WAY - SOCIETAL TYRANNY !!!

I would suggest before anyone goes off the deep end and gets a case of the "Foot in Mouth" disease in reference to Weldon's statements that they read the following speech from Nov, 24 1998 by Weldon.

The ICAS Lectures

More book selling propaganda. If he knew of the attack, why didn't he just tell the President if the CIA wouldn't listen? Or take out a full page add in the newspaper?

I'm more curious as to why he was having secret meetings with a terrorist and what information he was selling him!

Iran's been at war with Iran since 1979 and we just haven't been very good at responding- not that the US congress has anything to do with that reluctance to act, right? It's not like congress hasn't stood in the way every step of the way since Ronald Reagan came to office, after all.

The best way to begin the process of taking out Iran is to take out Iraq and Afghanistan- acts in progress. Make those Mullah sandwiches harder for Iranians to keep digesting day in and day out. It'd help if we could get the loyal opposition in the US congress to fight alongside us as allies instead of as enemies, whining and quibbling over nominees like Bolton and making trumped-up Koran desecration claims to inspire our enemies to fight even harder. But then, that would mean some of them would have to quit accepting money from Iranian regime-linked fundraisers.

Instead it looks more like we're going to stall until Iran achieves nuclear power status and then everyone will just have to shut up and learn to like the taste of those mullah sandwiches.
