Bret Schundler erases 9 Forrester points in five days!

Go Bret Go!!!

Everyone vote for Bret tomorrow!! He WILL stop Corzine!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Bill Pascoe

June 6, 2005 (908) 379-2738

Q-Poll: Schundler SURGES!!!

New Jersey is not for sale

Forrester’s smear campaign backfires; tax-hiking, salary-doubling, ‘drunken-sailor-spending’ liberal’s 11-point “lead” collapses to two points in four days

(MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ) – Schundler for Governor communications director Bill Pascoe – reacting to the release of a new poll by Quinnipiac University, showing that in the space of just four days, Bret Schundler has surged as Doug Forrester has collapsed – this morning issued the following statement:

“New Jersey’s long-suffering, overtaxed homeowners have seen through Doug Forrester’s smear campaign, and are poised to select Bret Schundler as the Republican nominee for Governor, to take the fight for permanent and dramatic property tax reduction into the fall campaign.

“The results of the new Quinnipiac University poll released this morning could not be clearer: two things are happening – New Jersey Republican primary voters are rejecting Doug Forrester’s ugly smear campaign, and are preparing themselves to cast a vote for a serious assault on the nation’s highest property taxes.

“From day one of this campaign, Bret Schundler has forced this race to focus on the one overriding issue concerning the citizens of New Jersey: the outrageously high property taxes that are forcing retired seniors to sell the homes in which they raised their families, and which are preventing young couples from purchasing homes of their own.

“Bret’s Permanent Property Tax Reduction Amendments are the basis of the ONLY truly serious property tax reform proposal. Both Doug Forrester and Jon Corzine have offered “plans” that are nothing more than thinly-disguised shams. Doug Forrester last week even complained that Jon Corzine had “stolen” his plan, for crying out loud!

“Just as importantly, Doug Forrester’s multi-million-dollar-television-extravaganza-smear-campaign has backfired. It is one thing to hit an opponent hard with a factual documentation of his record – as we have done, in pointing out Mr. Forrester’s record as a tax-hiking, salary-doubling, ‘drunken-sailor-spending’ liberal. It is quite another thing to invent wild charges and outrageous allegations in a desperate attempt to buy an election.

“New Jersey Republican primary voters are poised to hammer home a one-two punch tomorrow. By voting for Bret Schundler, they will be sending a message – they demand action NOW on property tax reform, and they are offended by multimillionaire liberals who think they can buy an election.”

The Quinnipiac University poll released this morning shows the race for the Republican nomination for Governor has tightened to a statistical tie – Doug Forrester with 35 percent, Bret Schundler with 33 percent, with 5.4 percent margin of error. On June 1, a Quinnipiac poll showed the race at 40-29, with Doug Forrester in the lead.

Bret is getting my vote. Wish we had primaries like the Dem's so I could vote more than once.

Bret is a conservative. As to the life issue. I believe I saw that Bret has the endorsement of the National Right to Life Organization

Schundler's definitely more conservative than Forrester. Though, since there's so many Lonegan fans on this board, you'd think Schundler was a Communist. Schundler just got the endorsement from National Right to Life, so that speaks volumes right there.

Primary's tomorrow night. I'm hoping those of us here on FR who live in NJ and have a good sence of pragmatism (i.e. that a vote for Schundler is the only way to take down the liberal Forrester) get out there and chalk one up for Schundler tomorrow.

LET'S GO SCHUNDLER!!!!

The only thing in Bret's way now is the Lonegan vote. The Murphy vote will hurt Forrester, but he's got to deal with the Lonegan vote, which directly eats into his base. Hopefully people get real tomorrow night and go with Schundler.

If Forrester wins tomorrow, though, at least I can use the rather hilarious line of "YOU SCREWED BRET!!!" in reference to Lonegan from now on (WWF relation for all of those who don't get it)!

Who cares? Joisey is already a lost cause. Either a RAT or a RINO will be the next governor. Nothing to see here folks...keep moving. Moving out of the PRNJ, that is.

This is just the primary race poll. The GOP has almost no chance in the general election in the 'Armpit of America,' NJ.

I don't think that's true at all. My dear old aunt who didn't like Schundler the last time around and voted for McGreevey offered that she's thinking about voting for Schundler this time around. Apparently the Catholic Church's stand on stem-cell research is getting through to her and I suspect others. And I was really stunned last night when my friends liberal West Wing-watching public school teacher wife not only said that she was voting Republican this fall for State office but when I told her she could vote in the Democrat primary for local office and simply not pull the lever for Corzine, she sounded like she really liked the idea. I think Corzine is going to hit more resistance than he thinks he is.

I am a resident and citizen of Nevada, and helped elect no Tarantula to statewide office, so I don't think 'Bozo' is appropriate

Schundler bump. The race could be even tighter than it looks with a lot of undecideds. Bret is a friend of Free Republic. Let's get the vote out!

I hear you, and Corzine won by a fairly close margin especially when you consider how much more money he spent. I just find NJ disapointing over the last decades - the Clinton elections seemed to have moved them permanently to the dem column, and I haven't seen any evidence to expect them to turn it around.

Keep the faith and so will I! Thanks! ;-)

Then why the HitmanNY by line, and if you are not versed in NJ politics why the disparaging remarks?

I lived in NYC most of my life and am very well schooled in NY-NJ-CY metro region politics. I ditched that town because it became such a waste of time.

Yea, go ahead and rub it in, you escaped and left us here. Nice guy.
on a serious note, a friend was moved to Reno to work on a Highway job, he went through sevear Northeast Food withdrawal until I was abel to send him to the Vitamia Ravioli Co. in Lodi, NJ. They overnight ship all the fresh made pasta, sauces (gravey?) and anything else you can think of by Fed Ex.
He survived the job and now is in So. Cal on a bridge job, still getting his monthly care packages.
If you still miss the food this will make you happy.
