kerry is a phony but so is bush. Hes from an upper crust Northeastern family, and is truly from CT. so they both put on a charade, kerry to seem smart, bush to seem like just another southern rancher. In reality, kerry is just well educated, not intelligent, and Bush is just an upper cruster like the rest of them who plays on his dumb, rancher image to help himself. Thats the way politics is - its all images

I disagree. Although part of being in politics is having to be phony to one side of an issue or another, but with regard to phoniness, these two are not on the same planet.

By all accounts, President Bush is a genuinely decent person. All the people who work for him hold him in high regard. A good measure is to see what his Secret Service agents think, his Marine guards think, and what the White House service staff think. I have heard tell from all three sources that he treats people with respect, from his Chief of Staff down to the guy who makes his sandwich or takes out the White House trash.

Also, he meets with a lot of people behind the scenes without a lot of media hullabaloo, particularly those who serve, are injured, or families of those who have died.

Zell Miller said it best when he made the reference to "I am blind but now I see" in his speech at the RNC. I think President Bush has had to subject himself to a serious self examination because of his alcohol problems, and came out of it a better person. My dad, a 30 year naval veteran, was a functioning alcoholic his entire life. He kicked it at the age of 60, and the process he went through to kick it changed him remarkably for the better, from a man who was already remarkable. I do not doubt the same change occurred to a degree with the President.

I understand your cynicism, but I disagree with it.

Senateforcaster (2005-05-07)comes from the mouldy depths that all trolls comes from.

Observe, ladies and gentlemen, the loving hearts of the left - especially when they do their panting dialectical dissections.

They hate President Bush because they know he is a million + more times a man than any of them will ever be. And even more because he submits to the Lord - that really gets them.

so is bush. Hes from an upper crust Northeastern family, and is truly from CT.

Beause he was born while his father was in grad school, living in student housing no less, does not make him "from" a state. After his infancy in CT, Bush grew up in Texas, where he attended the neighborhood public school through grade 4.
