Don't worry chaps, it's all in her genes

A woman's ability to gain sexual satisfaction is largely inherited, according to research published today.

Scientists found that orgasms are pre-programmed into a woman's genes rather than caused by psychological factors, cultural traditions or the abilities of her partner.

They believe their findings support the theory that reaching orgasm is an evolutionary device based on the idea that poor lovers are less likely to be good long-term partners.

It is hoped the identification of the genes involved will lead to a treatment for the approximately one in seven women thought to have difficulties having orgasms.

Researchers at the twin research unit at St Thomas's Hospital, London asked 683 identical and 714 non-identical pairs of sexually active female twins, aged 19 to 83, to fill in questionnaires about their sex lives.

The volunteers were taken from TwinsUK, a research project using the special genetic properties of twins to study to what extent a wide range of common diseases and traits are inherited or the product of environmental causes.

One in six of the 2,794 women questioned said they had either never experienced orgasm during intercourse or were unsure whether they had, while one in seven, 14 per cent, said they always did.

To remove their lovers' skills as a factor, the women were also asked about their ability to achieve orgasm through masturbation.

A third said they were always able to, while 14 per cent said they had either never been able to or were unsure whether they had. By comparing the responses of identical and non-identical twins, the researchers found at least 34 per cent of a woman's ability to reach orgasm during sex with a partner was inherited.

When they removed the variable of the partner, they found that 45 per cent of the female ability to reach orgasm was the product of her genetic inheritance.

Sounds to me like the scientists were trying to find a rational explanation for perhaps some social deficits they may be experiencing. I'm slightly appalled that my tax money went to pay for this.

Regards, Ivan

I think I could have designed a more rigorous experiment.

But there's only a 10 per cent chance of that.

:^)

Bunk. It's all in their heads. They're so worried about their own pleasure they try too hard and ruin it.
If they thought about their partners pleasure once in awhile and took their minds off themselves, they'd get somewhere!

It's like woman who want a baby sooooo bad, they can't get pregnant , and eventually adopt. Next thing they know, about a month after they get their new baby, she's knocked up! She was trying so hard to get what she wanted, so she couldn't. Once she let go - poof! She's got bread in the oven!!

Did they ask about a women's ability to fake a response to a survey? ;-)

When asked how long it took for a woman to reach an orgasm the "All World Real Man" replied "Who cares?"
;-)

Had to pass that one on but now I'm off to move in with OBL!

"They believe their findings support the theory that reaching orgasm is an evolutionary device based on the idea that poor lovers are less likely to be good long-term partners."

Perhaps this is a scientific rationale for the species of pompous liberalass, which has all the evolutionary advantages of the dodo bird.

The only way the experiment could work is if the twins had been seperated at birth because they were raised under the same basic psychological background (even the same birth order and time period and place growing up)that can easily account for how they react psychologically.

One in seven? Based on my personal experience I can assure you that 6.999 women out of seven cannot achieve orgasm

"Scientists found that orgasms are pre-programmed into a woman's genes rather than caused by psychological factors"

Hmmmm, "pre-programmed". Then there must have been a Supreme Programmer.

Or are they saying that the 'Bang' which caused the ooze which caused the fish which caused the apes which caused the human race just sort of 'programmed' themselves over the eons of time?

It's quite amusing when these pompous 'scientists' boldly hypothesize the origin and causation of the human race, and definitively explain the dynamism and anticedent of innate human behaviors and instincts. They are always looking for some physiological infrastructure of the brain to explain the human personage and expression, which conveniently eliminates all possibility of a spiritual/metaphysical link to God as the source and catalyst of our human animation and soul, (or the obstructed link to such Godly connection, blocked by the barrier of willfulness).

To them, the brain is the beginning and end, source and center of all things----especially their own brains.

I can't believe you would admit that. But maybe you've just had bad luck with women and they've allll been frigid...LOL

And I can't believe that some women in the study said they were unsure if they'd had an orgasm. How can one be unsure of an orgasm?

What did some men who "need viagra" do before viagra. It is a fairly new drug, or is the need for viagra in some cases, manufactured.
