I would have said, "Development of cheap, fossil-fuel based energy production which, unfortunatly, runs the risk of global warming. It is much better to let people starve than to run the risk of warming the planet."
OK, I would not have said that.
Shalom.
I don't think the Pope would give the same answers. I don't think the Dali Lama would recognize the fact that the only solution to the world's problems is to submit to the Lordship of Christ. Unless something has changed, Buddhism would not admit that human beings can not grow to overcome these problems on their own.
Shalom.
I can think of some pretty stupid things I have done in the last 90 seconds to "impress" a chick.
LOL. It's a lifetime's task!
I have solved one of the great zen mysteries. In Arab countries they cut off the right hand of a thief. So he must do everything with his left hand. It can get noisy when he needs to "wipe himself" after using toilet facilities. Thus we know "the sound of one hand crapping."
OY!
"I don't think the Dali Lama would recognize the fact that the only solution to the world's problems is to submit to the Lordship of Christ."
? Of course not. He's Buddhist.
I think this Owen Wilson is basically making fun of all religion.
I don't know who he is, but I suspect from his flippant remarks, he really isn't very different from his shallow Hollywood friends.
LOL!!
I would have said "helping to provide education and opportunity for people to learn how to feed and support themselves". ]
Better than sharing for the long haul and of course, we do not know of any Democratic nations that have a starving population. . .but we will never hear 'Democracy' offered as a solution, from the Lib side of the world. . (hello, Brad Pitt. . .).
That said, have always had a great deal of respect for the Dahlai Lama. . .but somewhat disappointed seeing how he has allowed himself to be used by the Hollywood crowd. . .and maybe a little 'vice versa'. . .
Which means he would not say the same thing as the Pope.
Shalom.
"Which means he would not say the same thing as the Pope."
We are talking about the 2 remarks of the Dahlai Lama that this guy is making fun of.
"'What's the solution to racism?' And he came back with, 'We all have the same color of blood,'"
I think if you researched speeches of the pope, you'd probably find this sentence, "'We all have the same color of blood,'", verbatim.
So the point is, this guy is too shallow (and very possibly anti-religion) to understand.
That's a sentence fragment, but you may be right. Out of context the Dali Lama can sound a lot like the Pope. But he doesn't begin to rise to the level of John Paul II. I don't know how he will compare against Benedict XVI.
Shalom.
I'm not comparing the Pope to the Dahlai Lama.
I'm trying to make a point about this guy's remarks.
shalom
