SORRY, Richard Gere, but Owen Wilson (above) doesn't share your adoration of the Dalai Lama. Wilson tells Playboy that he went to hear the Tibetan spiritual leader speak at UCLA once to "impress a girl" and "the crowd made me want to throw up.

Good to see one Hollywood type go against the grain. Maybe Owen Wilson can be our honorary Hollywood Freeper!

hehe

Owen Wilson is probably another great guy to party with, but I don't know if this was a Kewpie Doll moment or something more permanent....

" 'What's the answer to world hunger?' And his answer was like, 'Sharing!'"

I would have said "helping to provide education and opportunity for people to learn how to feed and support themselves".

I haven't seen too much of him, but his cameo in Meet the Parents was damn funny!

Is this the same Dali Lama that Richard Halliburton met in the 1930's?

And Lowell Thomas (Or was it John Gunther's HIGH ROAD) met in the 1950's?

Not to itebray is he.

They do the same thing when Bill and Hitlery speak.....Remember, Steponallofus once said if you say something about a problem, it's as good as doing something about it!

I don't know who Owen Wilson is, but if he " went to hear the Tibetan spiritual leader speak at UCLA once to "impress a girl" , and was totally unimpressed, I'd say he's shallow.

That’s right. The Socialists mantra is that to correct all world problems you must throw money at it. Even though the history of human natures has shown time and again that this only leads to dependency and self-loathing, suppressing freedom and prosperity. Which is in fact the business Socialists are in isn't it? Make everyone dependent on the wealthy elites in government in order to control the poor ignorant masses. Socialism is really another form of fascism.

perhaps. But I can think of some pretty stupid things I have done when young to "impress" a chick.

That's why I think Bush was smart not to cave into Tony Blair and throw billions more into Africa!

The point is, the answer's that the Dalai Lama gave that this guy is making fun of, are reminiscent of the same types of answers that a pope might give.
The guy's an idiot. (again, I have no idea who he is)

"if he " went to hear the Tibetan spiritual leader speak at UCLA once to "impress a girl" , and was totally unimpressed, I'd say he's shallow."

Specifically, what's to be impressed about?
