"I'm troubled about what kind of lesson this gives" to the rest of the world, he told the Democrats remaining in the room.

The new Dummie mantra. Isn't it funny how the Dems say you can't call them unpatriotic when they do all kinds of anti-US stuff, and yet they feel perfectly comfy saying stuff like the above?

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, in a statement, said the hearing was an example of Republican abuse of power and she would ask House Speaker Dennis Hastert to order an apology from Sensenbrenner.

Why do I have this feeling Hastert will tell her to take a leap?

I hope the Republicans look at this as an example of how to behave the next time the Dems start their American-hating propaganda inside the Capitol itself.

Sensenbrenner was gaveling to close and there was Nadler yelling into his microphone.

He probably thought he was fulfilling his dream of having one of the mikes at a McDonald's for his very own. "TWENTY-SEVEN BIG MACS! EACH QITH A QUARTER POUNDER ON TOP WITH DOUBLE EVERYTHING! And a Diet Coke."

I don't call that being a poor sport--- I call it having the cajones to follow through on rules that he set down. I doubt very seriously that the dems thought--na,na,boo,boo, we made you leave!!!

You are absolutely correct. The days of the Republcans as patsies is over. It's now hardball.

It cracks me up that the democrats think the rest of the world is trying to learn "lessons" from the United States, and that somehow they are always learning the "wrong" lessons.

I just watched that meeting on C-SPAN.

I know this could get me kicked out of the conservative club, but I officially don't care about immigration, taxes or ANY other issue in terms of how I will vote.

After seeing that show in its entirety, it doesn't matter WHAT the Republicans do: They get 100% of my votes from now on. There is, simply, NOTHING that will convince me we can risk putting them in power of this country in a post-9-11 world. Nothing.

Let the flames come, I don't care. Letting the dems get in control of this country is suicide. It's as simple and true as that.

I agree. All it takes is this, and the growing awareness that the dems got little or nothing out of the McCain deal, and the Republicans can see--if they're smart--that they can behave like a majority and the sky won't fall.

Me too.

I'm so sick of fake old pretty boy Bayh that never really has a darn thing to say.

He's had a free ride by dodging the issues and smiling real cute for far too long.

The fact that the Democrats have consistently put themselves on the wrong side of the War On Terror, defending terrorists since 9/11, these outbursts by Democrats comes as no surprise. The behavior of the Democrats is nothing short of childish, borne of a party destined by it's own accord to be in the minority for another half century.

I think at this point in time, anything the Democrats say and do is rooted in their hatred for the Bush administration, borne from their hate America first position they've set themselve afoot on, while at the same time, shredding the Constitution and everything it stands for, tearing down the foundations and pillars this country rests upon, all the while, projecting their anger through their party head, Howard Dean.

He's showing his true colors now, and had we had a better candidate we could have taken him out, his victory was not a landslide. But Marvin Scott never even came up here, he ran radio ads but he never came to visit that was a big mistake! Sigh! I really wish Pence would have run.

The Northern Whigs (anti-slavery) joined the Republicans and the Know-Nothing Party and the Southern Whigs (pro-slavery) joined the Democrats.

You realize that in the 1800's, the platforms of the parties were a bit different. The Democratic-Republican party was a bit more liberal than the Modern Republican party.

Just WTF do the Democrats stand for? Enemy rights?

I think you have nailed one of the things that they stand for. They are always worried about how badly the badguys are being treated.

Sensenbrenner had darned well better not apologize to these America/Bush haters. Good for Pence stating the truth. It needs to be repeated over and over.

Sensenbrenner declared that much of the testimony, which veered into debate over the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, was irrelevant.

Gitmo shouldn't even come up in debate. Matter of fact, according to the Geneva Convention protocols, the terrorist detainees should have been summarily executed by firing squad.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., chairman of the panel, abruptly gaveled the meeting to an end and walked out, followed by other Republicans.

More biased reporting. I watched the hearing on C-SPAN. The hearing was over and Sensenbrenner in his capacity as chairman, closed the meeting. The Dems wanted to continue getting more statements from the anti-Bush panel, most of whom failed to address provisions in the Patriot Act.

Everyone had an opportunity to question the panel. Maxine Waters, the last questioner, spent four minutes and 45 seconds of her alloted five minutes in a diatribe against Bush. Conyers, the ranking member, then asked for four additional minutes so the panel members could respond to Waters' comments. Rightfully, Sensenbrenner refused and after some closing remarks adjourned the meeting.

It's hard to express how good it feels that the Republicns are not being manhandled by these idiots who don't even know what the Patriot Act is all about.

Bringing Amnesty International to the table, an organization which has evidenced a hostile-to-the-US perspective, and has Muslim woman for its chairperson now, THAT is great PR for our side. AI really blew it when it held to (and even defended) its statement that Gitmo and Gulag are equivalents.

Excuse me? Only for the Kool-Aid drinkers!

Sensenbrenner has led the way, THANK YOU!!!!

Other Republicans take note, PLEASE!!!! Tough love is the proper prescription for these whiny, out of control, disruptive ____________(the list goes on and on and on!) behaviors.
