The following initiatives are likely to be on the ballot Nov. 8 if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger calls a special election by Monday, as he said he would. Five already have qualified. Others are awaiting verification by the Secretary of State's Office.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is proposing three initiatives(all qualified for ballot):
TEACHER TENURE:
CONGRESSIONAL AND LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS:
STATE SPENDING CAP:
Other initiatives:
PARENTAL PERMISSION FOR ABORTION: (Q)
PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNION DUES: (Q)
PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISCOUNTS (by D)(pending)
PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISCOUNTS: (other) (pending)
ELECTRIC SERVICE PROVIDERS: (pending)

Thanks for finding the info about the Voter ID initiative.
I am posting it here too for people.
This is an initiative to require picture ID from everyone at the polling places.
The petition can be downloaded from
http://www.voteridact.com/
We have until August 1 to gather 374,000 valid signatures.

These look good and very needed. I don't know what the prescription drugs and electric provider ones are about but, let me tell you: If we could pass any initiative that clamps down on unions, it's a good thing. This one may be about the unions using dues money for political activity. Well! That's the unions whole reason for being, to gain political power. It has nothing to do with fairly representing workers. I'd like to see the public employees unions lose their closed shop status, too.
Status: Qualified for the ballot. Yeah, baby.
I think the three most important ones are:
CONGRESSIONAL AND LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS:
STATE SPENDING CAP:
PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNION DUES:
The State spending cap one will bust Prop 98 madated spending on schools.
If the Union dues one will pass, the unions will lose their power -- won't that be grand!
Clamping down on teacher tenure is courageous too! No wonder the teachers union hates Arnold!

If the political experts are right, Sacramento's "summer from hell" officially begins Monday.
That's when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, after months of threats and name-calling, has said he will sign a proclamation setting a special election Nov. 8 for his three initiatives that he says will reform state government. He plans to offer a live statement to television stations statewide at 5 p.m.
What timing! Coincidental with the SMC demo, June 14, Flag Day! How many troops do you have, RonDog? I'll be there about 5:30-6:00.
