Dean Urges Appeal to Moral Values - (oh, goodness gracious, not again! what hypocrisy!)
WASHINGTON POST.COM ^ | JUNE 12, 2005 | Mike Allen, Washington Post Staff Writer

Unrepentant after a week of controversy over his inflammatory remarks, Democratic Chairman Howard Dean told party leaders yesterday that casting traditionally liberal issues in moral terms is a key to breaking Republicans' eight-year hold on the White House.

Dean acknowledged that he sees his party's national campaign apparatus as being "30 years behind" the one fielded in November by the Bush-Cheney campaign, and said the solution is for Democrats to be tough, describe themselves boldly and get organized in all 50 states.

"People want us to fight, and we are here to fight," Dean said during a quarterly meeting of the party's 64-member executive committee. "We are not going to lie down in front of the Republican machine anymore."

Dean's aides said he now realizes he needs to choose his words more carefully but plans to keep the pressure on Republicans.

Several key Democrats had said early last week that Dean should resign but concluded by week's end that there was no viable movement to oust him. Dean yesterday embraced his reputation for volatility, saying he is being buoyed by activists and donors. At one point, Chicago alderman Joseph A. Moore had trouble getting recognized and joked that next time he would "jump up and down."

"That's my job!" Dean said, and the room shook with applause.

The Democratic National Committee's lead pollster, Cornell Belcher, said that religious people who have been stymied economically represent a huge opportunity for the party, and that the challenge is to portray moral values as "not just gay marriage and abortion."

These people do not even know what "values" are. Kerry thought they were about better child care and education. I mean .. really .. how can you be for something when you don't even know what the heck it is.

And .. since character is a "value" and the dems don't have any .. they're in real trouble.

Their whole strategy remains unchanged; obfuscate and play semantic games on 'values' while the Courts impose their far-left social and cultural agenda on the entire nation.

And why change it? It has been and continues to be extremely successful.

I love the last sentences quoted above. Now even the ultra-libs are fleeing their designation as the pro-abortion crowd.

Increasingly I find homosexuality/Same-sex marriage to be a key split in the moral values debate. It may seem like a small issue on the surface, but it's really at the core of the difference between the two values systems.
Liberals seem to believe that what's immoral for one person (if they're more inclined to be gay) may be moral for another... or what was immoral at one point in history is perfectly moral now... at its core... Moral Relativism.
Conservatives believe that there are values that are objective and absolute.
That's why I think Same-sex marriage is a much bigger issue than most on either side realize.

I have this image of Karl Rove reading this article and frowning when he reads that sentence and shouting "Don't you dare!"

Remember when Karl Rove was seen cheering on Dean at a parade? He must have been blue when Dean lost, but he must have been pinching himself when Dean became DNC chair.

Faking decency, traditional American values, and "morality" is nothing more than a campaign ploy for the scumbag Democrats. Only the particularly stupid will ever believe they've actually changed.

"People want us to fight, and we are here to fight,"

Every Democratic speech since 2000 is Fight this... Fight that... What exactly is it that they're proposing to fight for? More free lunches? That's not a very idealistic goal to "fight" for.

Dean derided the attempted congressional intervention in the case of Terri Schiavo, whose feeding tube was removed in March. "Do we think the American people want to have those kinds of decisions made by families, or should they be made by Tom DeLay and the politicians in Washington?" Dean asked. "A moral value is personal responsibility and individual freedom. And that is what Democrats are going to start to stand for -- moral values."

This contradicts just about every Socialist policy the Democrats espouse. What a doofus.

The Democratic National Committee's lead pollster, Cornell Belcher, said that religious people who have been stymied economically represent a huge opportunity for the party...

Translation: All the non-religious people already vote Democrat. Maybe we can bribe a few of the religious with promises of other people's money.

Everyone knew Dean was an "Idiot" two years ago. Why are they surprised when he is an idiot today?
The man is in love with himself, and that makes exactly one of us.

Morals? Dean and his ilk support homosexuals! They support taking God out of our schools! You can piss in a jar, and stick a cross of Jesus in the jar, and that is considered art by the dummycrats, but, do not tear a single page from the koran! They support the murder of unborn children, then want to charge Americans with murder if someone is in an automobile accident and the women is pregnant, and the baby dies as a result of the accident! They teach 12 year old females where to go for an abortion without the parents knowledge or consent! They support our enemies during a time of war, placing our brave soldiers further at risk, and costing more lives than necessary! They burn the American flag, and scream out how much they hate America, and the people who voted for our Dear President Bush! These Socialist defend journalist who write lies in their news papers about Americans that inflames millions around the world against America, and the American people, and cause the deaths of innocents, but, then argues for disarming every American because they cannot be trusted to protect themselves. The Socialist look to Cuba and praise their healthcare system, all the while ridiculing America's healthcare that has set the standards under which the rest of the world has longed to copy! These Dean fanatics demand that a holy bible cannot be read in the work place on the American workers own time. They support and teach under age sex in our public schools, but, cannot and will not teach those same kids the sacrifices of our forefathers, that made this Country the greatest in the world. They laugh at, ridicule, and demean Christians, and their faith, but respect those of the muslim faiths. They support, cover-up and defend the United Nations, and all of its corruption, but, set out to destroy any business they don't like, such as "big tobbacco", and any other business that they cannot control. They believe that the Christian Right defeated them in the last election, and so now they are working to destroy them.

MORALS? These people would not know what morals were if they were written on their foreheads!

Don't make me laugh, Dean is a joke, and should be looked at as the dems big jokebook!

These poor RATS will never get it! At the meeting this one Democrat said to Dean '' I don't understand. why did all these people vote for Bush? Morals and religion shouldn't trump economics. We want to help them economically, yet they still vote for Bush because of their religious and moral values. '' Then he went on to whine. '' We Democrats must make clear ,that their economic situation is more important than religion and moral values.'' What they don't get and probably will never get, cause most of then are atheists is that when you have a true relationship with GOD you have all the riches you need!

"People don't know where we stand on a lot of issues"

I love this theme of "the problem is that we didn't get our message out". If the Dems really did get their message out as to whom they really are, then it would be game, set and match for us for decades (well, actually, we would have to pummel some RINOs first and give spine injections to about 1/3 of our Senators). Their problem is that their message and the truth about them IS slowly seeping out.

Anything, but fighting terror.

They will fight for the right to abort a third trimester baby, but not freedom.
