I also could have subtitled this: "Greenpeace activists protest global warming by burning fossil fuel in helicopter."

"The horrifying experience of these brave, brave pioneers in progress will surely raise awareness within the world community at large that climate change is not just a threat in the near future, it is very, very real, and it is here now, so we must act now for the future of our children, and our childrens' children." Dupre, a carpenter, and Larsen, a dog musher, bicycle racer and wilderness guide, started their 1,200-mile expedition May 10 and had planned to complete the crossing -- the first ever in summer months -- by August.

Yeah, a couple of highly trained rocket scientists out to prove a point using the scientific method. Morons.

Having cut short their arctic trip, Lonnie Dupre and Eric Larsen will now attempt to raise awareness of gun violence by holding a candlelight vigil in an ammunition plant.

The Eco Nuts held a Global Warming Conference in Colorado Springs CO in the late 80's or early 90's.

They were forced to cancel a number of events because of bitter cold and snow!

I'm just finishing up reading Michael Crighton's book State of Fear. Y'all should read it. Totally debunks global warming with real and true cites throughout the book. Great thriller novel too.

I liked this bit....Heavy and consistent snowstorms and strong winds and ocean currents made for difficult travel. Worse, the ice often shifted in such a way that it caused a backward drift as the men slept, offsetting much of the progress they would make during the day. Although the men traveled more than 150 miles in three weeks, they moved only 45 miles toward the North Pole, Gregory said. "What would happen is that they'd make all this progress, then drift backwards in their sleep," she said. "It was pretty discouraging and really exhausting."

I am currently reading a book about Arctic exploration and I would tell them like the whalers told the British Navy...start Earlier!

These Arctic 'explorers' should read history instead of reading their own propaganda.

...had hoped to become the first adventurers to cross the Arctic Ocean in summer, abandoned their expedition Thursday after advancing only 45 miles in 24 days.

My wife and I are now planning this for our next vacation. I can't wait! I don't get 24 days vacation, so we'll have to really haul ass.....weather and global warming permitting...
