Our party of black Jews

REFLECT ON THE FACT that Democrats are now more concerned with ousting Howard Dean from the Chairmanship of the DNC than they ever were about ousting Saddam Hussein from the dictatorship of Iraq. Rape rooms didn't faze them — I think mainly because that's what the Arkansas Governor's office was called when Clinton occupied it — but Dean's assertion that the GOP is a party of "white Christians" makes them bubble over with rage.

To state the manifestly obvious, Howard Dean is a "white Christian." This much he admits. We're still waiting for the results of lab tests, but most of us have come to the conclusion that Condi Rice, an avowed Republican, fails to meet at least one of those criteria. Same goes for Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, J.C. Watts, and the nationwide constituency of Jews who supported Bush in the last election. As Ken Mehlman said, addressing the "white Christian" jibe, "a lot of folks who attended my bar mitzvah would be surprised."

But at least we finally have it right from the horse's mouth. Right-wingers have been yelling at liberals about their anti-Christian bias for a long time, and now they've proven us correct. The reason Dean used the word "Christian" is that he believes opposing Christians represents a cohesive political strategy; the reason he used the word "white" is that he knows that people who like him — white college kids drunk on Starbucks — hate the idea of being "white." These are the kind of people that think integrating words like "ghetto" into polite conversation separates them from the their Caucasian brethren. The mere fact that a white twentysomething drinking a vegan soy-shake in Berkeley may have once listened to NWA doesn't quite change his racial identity.

I note, also, that there's no shortage of white Christians in Dean's party. Indeed, though he did everything to make us believe differently, I believe John Kerry was both white and Christian. Wasn't Al Gore white and Christian, too? And — hey, there's a pattern! — weren't Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, LBJ, and Kennedy all white Christians? I guess they should have been Republicans.

In opposing Dean, Democrats' current talking-points memo instructs them to gingerly point out that Dean doesn't "speak" for them. Dean "doesn't speak for me with that kind of rhetoric and I don't think he speaks for the majority of Democrats," Sen. Joe Biden said. Biden did not address whether he actually authored those words himself.

That Dean ever assumed any role of power proves Democrats' inherent inability to assess America. Recall that Dean couldn't even convince the tiny sliver of the populace that votes in Democratic primaries to vote for him. If you can't beat John Kerry, politics really isn't your métier. Dean should have taken his losses with a quick smile and proceeded to find work in a bait-and-tackle shop. Why would Democrats reward a howling loser with the Chairmanship of their Party — and then point out that, alas, he doesn't really "speak" for them?

White Christian Republicans should form some sort of angry PAC with the express purpose of Bringing Dean Down. The problem is that we're too busy laughing at him. Indeed, I think all Republicans, regardless of faith or race, are overjoyed that Dean serves the Democrats.

The press is jubilant over the perceived weakness of President Bush's current agenda — as if one cover story in Time magazine weeping about how rotten we treat terrorists has any impact on what Americans think of the president they just reelected. To review, Time magazine has never liked Bush. The October 6, 2003 issue of Time sported a picture of Bush in his "Top Gun" gear and the headline, "Mission Not Accomplished: How Bush Misjudged the Task of Fixing Iraq." Among the newsweekly's objective, journalistic observations:

"Of all the miscalculations on Iraq, few have been as surprising as the inability to find real evidence of Saddam's supposed weapons of mass destruction..."

"The fruitless hunt for WMD has not cost American lives. The failure to understand that the war was not over — and in some ways, had barely begun — when Bush stood on the deck of the Abraham Lincoln, has." (Emphasis added)

It's not as if National Review has decided to oppose Bush. Time magazine opposing this Administration is not news — just like it's not news that Howard Dean has come up with another way to smear Republicans. Like death and taxes, double-dealing liberals can always be relied upon to deliver.

I know one black Jew, personally. He's the most hardcore Republican I've ever met, despises Democrats with a passion, and won't ever shut up about it.

REFLECT ON THE FACT that Democrats are now more concerned with ousting Howard Dean from the Chairmanship of the DNC than they ever were about ousting Saddam Hussein from the dictatorship of Iraq

That is not true. The media is concerned with ousting Howard Dean. And Democrats who want to garner favor with the media want to oust Howard Dean. But tall to any of the 477 members of the Democratic National Committee. They elected Dean and they love him.

Talk to local Democratic party officials in any county in the nation. The vast majority will tell you they are happy that at long last a DNC head is saying what they want to hear.

The media is trying to convince the Democratic Base that Dean is very bad for the party. But people like Hillary and Kerry have been so good at claiming that the Media is right wing biased, that the Democratic base will not listen to the media.

When either party runs what its base things are moderates and those "moderates" lose, the party base turns to its most extreme members.

From a Republican standpoint it is hard to believe that the Democratic Base thinks both Gore and Kerry were moderates. After all 3 million leftists thought Gore was not nearly green enought. They wanted to teach the Democrats not to run a moderate like Gore, so they voted for Nader in 2000. Even when Gore flat out told them that a vote for Nader would elect Bush, they agreed with him... and still voted for Nader.

The media is scared to death of Dean. So they would like to convince the public that Dean is not a 'REAL' Democrat. But the truth is Dean is very popular with 'REAL' Democrats.

The MSM told them Dean could not win in 2004 and Kerry's moderation could. The Democrat base bought the media spin and dumped Dean and went for Kerry. Then Kerry got beat.

The attitude in the Democratic party is "If we are going to lose with moderates, we would rather lose with a true liberal." DEan is a tre liberal and the Democratic base loves him.

The vast majority of 477 members of the Democratic National Committee love Dean. They think he is exactly what the Democratic party needs. They will not fire Dean. He is their hero. And Dean will not resign.

Hillary has a terrible problem, if she associates with Dean she can not win the General election and if she does not suck up to Dean she can not get the Democratic nomination. If she sucks up to Dean and his followers to get the nomination, and then tries to run to the center, they will turn on her in the General election.

The best the media and Hillary can hope for is massive Democratic losses in the house senate and state races in 2006. If Democrats take a bath, Dean could be ousted. But if Democrats hold their own or make even small gains, Dean will be a hero. And Hillary will go to a long shot to win the presidency.

"DEan is a tre liberal and the Democratic base loves him."

That's a misperception. He is popular among the far-left wing of the Democratic party, but that is not the base the party depends on. The Democrats true base is ethnic minorities and union families. Dean is especially UNPOPULAR with those groups, so no, the base does not love him.

You know nothing of the Democratic party and how it works.

Go to any unionized factory gate at shift change time. Ask the first 100 workers who are clocking in who Howard Dean is? There will not be 15 out of the one hundred who can tell you. The most common answer will be he is a Country Music Singer who makes sausage. Go to any large black church on sunday morning. Ask the first 100 church goers who Howard Dean is? There will not be 10 of the 100 who can tell you who he is.

You are counting followers as base. Black voters vote in lock step the way the precinct worker tells them to vote. Union workers are told by their shop steward whom to vote for. They get leaned on every election day. Most do as they are told. Those that don't tend to vote Republican.

What you call the base of the party does not know who Howard Dean is. Most don't even know that Hillary Clinton is a Senator. They do know Bill Clinton has sex with young girls. They certainly know who their precinct worker and/or shop steward is. They vote like they are told.

They are not important in terms of controling the party. The union officials, and the county and state central committee members are the important people. They control tens of thousands of Democratic votes. They love Dean.

To prove it go to any county Democratic party office. Ask anyone who is there, what they think of Dean. They will tell you that at long last they have a DNC chair that tells it like it is. They love him.
