okie. I don't know L.A. very well.

There's a large fire at Castaic, believed to have started with popping electric power lines.

In Nevada, that Vegas/Pahrump area fire looks vicious. 24,000 acres?

hey pal! What do you think of this McGill fellow filling in for Noory? I like him. I also like the subject matter they are discussing. Not sure if you are listening to C2C.

( sorry off topic for your thread but looked for your latest post )

That was about as low as the C2C ads have ever gone. Just about as silly as it gets
' Gee Whiz - Lets replicate a phone in call to the show but it'll be an advertisement instead. Folks will listen as it will appear to be a real segment of the show. They'll never know the difference! '
Thanks George.
I thought McGill was pretty good. No odd or out of context Noory comments throughout the interview was a nice change.
Well, I have to get back to creating my day Karl!
( so far it isn't working....no back rub from Monica Bellucci yet and I had to make my own coffee this morning )

I saw six (if not more) starts myself, first-hand and up close & personal tonight, at the Antelope Valley fairgrounds. The city of Lancaster's fireworks show started the fire that closed the 14 freeway for a time. (Saw that action live, too.) You can see a lot from those grandstands. I just wished I'd had a camera.

I was surprised to hear that LACFD requested mutual aid from Edwards Air Force Base because they had no units in the Antelope Valley available. I heard a Batallion Chief dress down a dispatcher, who was obviously overwhelmed with the number of calls, and then individual fire engines countermanding the Batallion Chief.

Firefighters Kept Busy By Blazes Blamed On Fireworks

More Than 150 Fires Reported On Holiday

LOS ANGELES -- Firefighters say illegal fireworks probably sparked dozens of small brush, grass and tree fires throughout Los Angeles County on Monday.

The largest of the fires occurred in Irwindale, in the West Hills area of the San Fernando Valley, where an evening blaze scorched about 5 acres near a gravel pit.

The fire started at about 9 p.m. and briefly threatened several homes, but no structures were damaged and no one was hurt. It took firefighters about two hours to put it out.

A fire blackened 4 acres in Lincoln Heights and another blaze consumed about 2 acres of brush in the Antelope Valley.

Burning embers from a fireworks show at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank ignited a series of small spot fires. Officials say they were quickly put out.

In South Los Angeles, a house fire at Main and 49th was reported at about 10:30 p.m.

Another fire on East 121st Street, in Athens Village, destroyed four cars. That fire was blamed on residual fireworks that were left in a trash can.

Firefighters say they got three times the number of calls they normally do in a five-hour period on the July Fourth holiday, according to NBC4's Angela Chee. In all, more than 150 fires were reported.

Gotta love how they don't point out it was the City of Lancaster's fireworks show that started the 2 acre brush fire!

I just figured out Chino Hills State Park.. Telegraph Canyon.

Link with photos of the hiking trails -- looks beautiful.

Staging is a definite problem from what I'm hearing.
