BREAKING LOCAL NEWS Tuesday, July 5, 2005 Wildfire burns 120 acres The blaze was 20 percent contained at 3:35 p.m. By JENNIFER MUIR The Orange County Register A brush fire that ignited this afternoon along the boundary of Yorba Linda and Chino Hills State Park has burned more than 120 acres, fire officials said. The fire was reported about 2:05 p.m. as it burned near Condor Ridge Road, where the northeast corner of Yorba Linda jabs into the state park. It quickly spread through the light brush and grass, said Capt. Stephen Miller of the Orange County Fire Authority. The fire now stretches from Rim Crest to San Antonio Road in Yorba Linda and north into Chino Hills State Park in San Bernardino County, Brea police Sgt. Jack Conklin said. No structures were in immediate danger, but officials set up strike teams to protect homes. "Its burning close to the homes," Miller said. "We dont expect it to reach the homes, but we have strike teams positioned just in case. "Sounds like its growing pretty fast." The blaze was about 20 percent contained at 3:35 p.m. Sixty-three fire engines, a helicopter, and two air tankers and two bulldozers from eight Orange County, Riverside County and state agencies fought the fire. "Its too early to tell" what caused the fire, Miller said. One witness called Brea police shortly after the fire broke out to report seeing three kids running onto a state park trail head at the end of Rim Crest. "They could have been involved, might not have been," Conklin said. Officials are asking anyone with information to call the fire authority at (714) 573-6200 or the anonymous tip line at (800) 540-8282.
Immigration checkpoint, like, the dept of ag "do you have any fruit to declare" station?
that's an ag checkpoint...this is the "do you have any undocumented fruit pickers in your trunk" checkpoint at the I15/CA79
BDF Bn-12 has assumed IC, and has changed the ICS Name
from: Edgar Fire
to: Barton Fire
I think "Edgar" may have been a rural resident of the area. He just
lost the name, though.
This is in Angelus Oaks area (correct spelling).
This was possibly an escape fire from pile burning in Barton
Flats area.
Strike Teams are protecting the string of campgrounds (several
summer camps) on the Jenks Lake Loop.

Isn't it a bit early for fire season of this magnitude?
Very little breeze down here.
It seems to be....but I am sure the arsonist is behind it all....the area supposedly is full of dead trees....
the fire is up in the tree tops too, not good.
Here is a map of the area...if you click satellite you can see the trees...I think the brown are dead trees
