The Speech the President Should Give by John F. Kerry [BARF Alert!]
New York Times ^ | June 28, 2005 | John F. Kerry

Posted on 06/27/2005 9:30:23 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

TONIGHT President Bush will discuss the situation in Iraq. It's long past time to get it right in Iraq. The Bush administration is courting disaster with its current course - a course with no realistic strategy for reducing the risks to our soldiers and increasing the odds for success.

The reality is that the Bush administration's choices have made Iraq into what it wasn't before the war - a breeding ground for jihadists. Today there are 16,000 to 20,000 jihadists and the number is growing. The administration has put itself - and, tragically, our troops, who pay the price every day - in a box of its own making. Getting out of this box won't be easy, but we owe it to our soldiers to make our best effort.

Our mission in Iraq is harder because the administration ignored the advice of others, went in largely alone, underestimated the likelihood and power of the insurgency, sent in too few troops to secure the country, destroyed the Iraqi army through de-Baathification, failed to secure ammunition dumps, refused to recognize the urgency of training Iraqi security forces and did no postwar planning. A little humility would go a long way - coupled with a strategy to succeed.

So what should the president say tonight? The first thing he should do is tell the truth to the American people. Happy talk about the insurgency being in "the last throes" leads to frustrated expectations at home. It also encourages reluctant, sidelined nations that know better to turn their backs on their common interest in keeping Iraq from becoming a failed state.

The president must also announce immediately that the United States will not have a permanent military presence in Iraq.

Our troops deserve better: they deserve leadership equal to their sacrifice.

I agree, Mr. Kerry. They deserve a lot better than the hacks like you who vote against them for political reasons.

Why don't we put secret tracking devises on the census takers who determined there are 20,000 jihadis and then swoop in right behind them?

So if the French held our hands the Jihadi's would be afraid to attack us I guess...

"The reality is that the Bush administration's choices have made Iraq into what it wasn't before the war - a breeding ground for jihadists. Today there are 16,000 to 20,000 jihadists and the number is growing."

Most terrorists are imported from surrounding countries, not "bred" in Iraq, as Kerry suggests.

And 16,000 to 20,000 jihadists? How does he know? Magic?

Even if the number is correct, surely he must understand that in terms of modern warfare, 16,000 - 20,000 is very far from a large number of enemy combatants.

I mean, I suppose the idiot Canadians could fend off that amount.

"Someone help me out here....who's John Kerry?"

You know, he is the corpse that the DNC re-animated to run for president on the Dimocrat ticket.

I'm surprised Franca's vacationing Senator's managed to find time from his heavy leisure schedule to lecture the President Of The United States on matters of state. Cheri's going to go back on vacation after delivering a pompous, blow in the wind screed.

Our mission is harder because we are fighting this war like we did Vietnam. We allow sanctuaries for the enemy that kills our troops. We worry about the civilian casualties of our enemies when our enemy loves to cut the heads of our civilians. Instead of punishing those who aid the enemy, we build them schools, roads, bridges..... .

And while we waste time money and lives in a kinder gentler compassionate war strategy that can not, according to our Secretary of Defense and Generals, win; China is using these years of attrition to build its power from their trade surplus that our President helps grow.

If we are at WAR, lets go to WAR. If not, lets not pretend.

"...destroyed the Iraqi army through de-Baathification..."

He makes this sound like a bad thing. Wonder what he would have thought about getting the Communists out of the Viet---
Oh, wait. We DO know what he thought of that enemy, don't we?

Shut up J-FinK, (short for "John F'in Kerry"), you LOST, remember? Nobody gives a good g-ddamn what you have to say except for traitors, seditionists and fools. They, like you, are absolute losers.

Of course you were always a loser, except to those morons in Massachusetts who keep electing you like your drunken sot of a fellow Senator, Teddy Chappaquiddick.

Call up Al Gore Johnny-boy, and ask him what those Internet acronyms 'ESAD' and 'FOAD' mean.

That's for you.

Truly frightening. He begins by pressuring the president into saying we will not stay in Iraq. God forbid the USA should have a presence in a friendly nation in the Middle East.

Go back and watch Kerry on Dick Cavett, coldly saying that our political allies in S Vietnam will be murdered after we leave, but that will be no big deal. He knows exactly what will happen to our allies if we announce we will pull out of Iraq, and that's exactly what he wants to happen to them.

So he and Ted Kennedy can dance on the graves of the Iraqis like they did on the Southeast Asians.
