Rebel Yell
Pvt. Thomas N. Alexander of the 37th NCT
The audio files accompanying this page were recorded by the general manager of WBT radio at a Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting in 1935 when Alexander was 90 years old.
There's also a recording of another very old veteran giving what he refers to as the rebel yell, found in a 1938 newsreel of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. It can be seen and heard in Ken Burns' "The Civil War".
