Oh, I didn't take it as Matthews trying to embarrass Graham. It seemed more likely that he was taking a cheap shot at Pope John Paul II. Matthews is of the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, liberal Catholics, so chances are, he didn't have much use for the likes of JPII, or Pope Benedict XVI, for that matter.
I think it was just ignorance.
