Do you remember your first brainfreeze?

The drink that came to be known as the Slurpee was developed in Dallas and introduced to the masses by 7-Eleven Inc. 40 years ago.

7-Eleven registered the term "brainfreeze" in 1994.

• More than 6 billion Slurpees have been sold, one for every man, woman and child on Earth.

• More than 13 million Slurpees are consumed every month.

• Although 7-Eleven started selling frozen drinks in 1965, they weren't called Slurpees until 1967.

• About 40 percent are sold in the summer months.

• The all-time U.S. Slurpee champion city – Detroit.

Even in the often-frigid Motor City, Slurpees are a staple.

• And the city with the highest per capita Slurpee sales? Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Do you think the folks in Africa,Iraq and India would like a slurpee today? Time for America to export more and to remember that the cold Starbucks coffee wasn't invented there. Remember that frozen marguerites started here too and we can export more than jobs.

The Slurpee is just a mere copy of the Icee...which was the original frozen carbonated beverage

I college I learned that a Slurpee and some rum/vodka/{any other alcohol} was a great way to make drinks w/o a belnder. Who says you can't learn good things while attending business school.

Favorite slurpee memory:

When I was a kid in August of '68, we lived in Cape Canaveral and stopped one night to get a slurpee at the 7-11. When we walked out the door, the sky lit up in a huge yellow fireball.

A B-52 bomber head for Vietnam and loaded with fuel had crashed at the Cape. Crew bailed, no one hurt, but it sure was a cool fireball.
