In Maryland you have to live in a expensive neighborhood or this type of thing will happen. It only takes a couple of bad neighbors to destroy a neighborhood(the parents are scared of their kids.) In MD, housing values are doubling every few years, yet some neighborhoods have decreasing property values. Bush thinks that owning a home changes losers to responsible home-owners but that is simplistic liberal thinking. Worse, we have affordable housing initiatives pushed on the developers by the county.

Owning a home is a start to a better life. Its not a panacea but I believe private property rights are the key to good citizenship. Its no coincidence the Left is against property rights because it doesn't want people to be good stewards of their lives and their own homes. It wants them to look to government for all their needs.

A question. I lived in Montgomery County off and on over a number of years. I just left in 2001. Considering the cost of housing, and how wages, even good DC/Fed govt wages are only so high, what is 'affordable housing' to you? From the prices I've seen, I wonder if you couldn't make $50-80,000 and still qualify for affordable housing in Montgomery County?
