Well it is official; no "non-sporting" barrels can be brought in. This affects AKs, CETMEs, H&Ks and about anything foreign that has a pistol grip and takes a box magazine. At best, prices will go up around $150 per rifle (or more) to use a USA barrel and at worse there could be no barrels for a particular model.
AKs are most affected because USA made 30 cal barrel blanks are .308" while Russian (com-block) barrels are .311".
The five or six USA parts count was bad enough!

That should read:

ATF Screws Us Again Isn't that their purpose in life? I don't think they are around to go after terrorists or even street criminals. They should be disbanded and their offices destroyed and the site salted. Their equipment should go to "Captain Crunch" and the be melted down for use in militia weapons.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? In Iraq, under US control, each household was allowed a full auto AK. EACH HOUSEHOLD.
So why not here?

I hope I live long enough to see a politician with the stones to seek the repeal of NFA, GCA, and every other stupid "crime-fighting" law that does nothing to stop crime.

"Ashcroft leaves and the ATF starts up again. Al G. seems to be the problem." Good point. I had forgotten that synchronicity.

Bolt actions aren't effected, just semis and kits from fulls that you could build a semi from.
