.....Tancredo created a buzz of his own. He got enough standing ovations from hard-core conservative Iowa voters that it should worry any top-tier presidential hopefuls who thought they could get through 2008 without touching the immigration hot-button.
Tancredo has visited New Hampshire and now Iowa, seeing how his hard line against illegal immigration plays in the two early presedential primary states. He's testing the waters for a possible presedential run of his own, but his real goal is to turn his pet issue into something akin to abortion in past campaigns - a big deal that nobody is allowed to ignore.
Even in Iowa, far from any international borders, Tancredo found his views an easy sell in front of friendly faces gathered by the Christian Coalition of Iowa. He talked about a national identity under attack, wages at risk and a border so porous he sees it as a welcome mat to would-be terrorists.
After last week's bomb attacks in London, Tancredo drew big applause by calling for the U.S. military to help seal America's borders.
"Isn't it better to stop people before they get here, rather than trying to find them once they get here?" he said at one gathering.
At every stop, Tancredo urged folks to ask questions about immigration when presedential hopefuls come to call.
"I beg you to ask them about this issue, and do not let them equivocate," he said.

Translation: Cultural Jihad has nothing intelligent or constructive to say so it reverts to insults and invective.
Translation: "Quisling Cultural Jihad seeks to pollute Free Republic and subvert our nation's borders and sovereignty."
Ouch, you sure burned him.
That was probably Steve King.
Tancrado will get as many votes as PJB got. He is too in your face. His messege is good but he is not a good messenger.
Same here in NW Arizona. We had our state representative speak at our town hall meeting, and after the flurry of questions about flood damage, she got a barrage of questions, and anecdotal evidence, about the open border.
I questioned her on Prop 200 and she said that Napolitano is trying to water down the ID requirements for voting and dragging her heels on implementing ANY of the reforms. She said that most of the Pubbie state reps in Phoenix were on the conservative side (asked her about RINOs) with a few "leftovers".
Told her the first politician who comes out for border enforcement gets my (and many others) votes, regardless of party affiliation, and that she ought to take that thought back with her.
I think you sorely under estimate not only Tancredo..but also the American people. Things like looks, and HOW one delivers .. means squat to me. I love his message..and until some so called conservative OR democrat comes along with the same message..and honestly means it..my vote and contributions will go to Tancredo.
And I doubt that the threats of us voting that way will put a democrat in the White House will fly this time around...our nations viability is at stake.
A lot of people didn't want to believe Pat Buchanan...People don't have to chose whether to believe Tancredo...They already know he's telling the truth...It's not the messenger, it's the political support and the media...I mean, look at George Bush...
"And I doubt that the threats of us voting that way will put a democrat in the White House will fly this time around...our nations viability is at stake."
Yeah, look at what that logic did for us this time. We just got a Kerry with a Texas drawl and a Clinton foreign policy.
He's taking a big risk betting that God hates men who are willing to risk their lives to get here to do the hardest, dirtiest, lowest paying jobs in order to feed their children
Thank you for trouncing the lefty troll.
He's taking a big risk betting that God hates men who are willing to risk their lives to get here to do the hardest, dirtiest, lowest paying jobs in order to feed their children
Tell us Rod, how did he feed his children BEFORE he committed his crime of breaking into the United States? Why did he have children in the first place if he couldn't feed them?
I don't really expect an answer from you because you have yet to answer any question that relates to your perverted stance on illegal immigration.
Must be discouraging for them, getting slapped around from thread to thread like sock puppets.
The pro-illegal alien gang grows ever more desperate as the time for a full accounting draws ever nearer...
I sat in on the meeting last Friday evening where Congressman Tancredo was the guest speaker and everyon in the room was intent on his message...some more "name recognition" will go along way. He seemed very personalable and was very "on message"...from what was said he seems to have gone from the lone-ranger on this subject to more of a Paul Revere...others in Washington are not so quick to dismiss what he says these days because "the folks" are letting their Reps & Senators hear about how much we are fed up with the NON-ENFORCEMENT of our soverinty as a Nation.
bump for Tancredo
