Largest gang bust in Alpharetta history Deadly SUR-13 gang has 10 members arrested, deported By: Rosemary Taylor 7/14/2005

An investigation by the Alpharetta Police Crime Suppression Unit into street gangs using Alpharetta as a home base for their activities in Metro Atlanta led federal agents June 30 to an Alpharetta home only half a mile from City Hall.

There amidst Surento 13 (SUR-13) gang graffiti and paraphernalia agents from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI’s "Safe Street" Gang Task Force, assisted by Alpharetta Police, arrested 10 members of the SUR-13 street gang on illegal immigration charges.

Arrested were Luis Castro-Guzman, Marcelino Navarro-Guzman, Armando Guzman-Castro, Marco Franco-Garcia, Filiberto Guzman-Mina, Armando Alvarez-Hernandez, Marcial Guzman-Mina, Francisco Guzman-Castro, Salvador Guzman-Mina and Roberto Alvarez-Hernandez. All are from Mexico, and all are here without proper immigration paperwork, according to Department of Homeland Security Public Information Officer Sue Brown.

As of press time, deportation proceedings were continuing on all 10 men.

"Several of them had teardrops tattooed under their eyes [a gang symbol that they’ve killed someone or someone close to them has been killed]. They also had SUR-13 tattoos on the backs of their heads and on their arms, and there were SUR-13 belts and hats lying around," said Alpharetta Sgt. Sean Woods, a member of the Crime Suppression Unit. "They were definitely members of SUR-13."

According to the National Drug Intelligence Center, the SUR-13 gang is a major Hispanic street gang in Metro Atlanta. Its members distribute cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine, and they also commit murders, assaults, drive-by shootings and auto thefts.

Sur-13 street gang members often identify with the symbols XIII, X3, 13, and 3-dots. This refers to the 13th letter of the alphabet "M," which stands for the Mexican Mafia, the major California-based Hispanic prison gang that SUR-13 is affiliated with.

"The home they were renting at 212 Devore Road we believe was a ‘stash house.’ These guys would come in once a week and drop off their kilos of cocaine and anything else they were dealing and stash their drugs there for a day or so. Then they’d come back and pick it up and go back out on the street and sell it," said Woods.

There were no drugs or cash found in the raid of the house, however. Police had gone to the house the day before the arrests to confirm that there were gang members living there. When they saw a man without his shirt on and a SUR-13 tattoo on his chest, they called the FBI’s "Safe Streets" Gang Task Force in Atlanta, which brought in agents from ICE — Immigration & Customs Enforcement — and they made the arrests the next night.

Police don’t know if the house was cleared of drugs and cash during that 24-hour period, or not. The only illegal thing found was a loaded 12-gauge assault shotgun and shells hidden under a bed in the house.

Alpharetta Police officer Jimmy Rives, a member of the task force, said the 10 arrested worked local construction jobs, had close ties and were related, in some cases.

"All of them were SUR-13 gang members in California prior to moving to Forsyth County sometime. SUR-13 is really big in Forsyth. Then a few months ago they found this rental house in Alpharetta," said Rives. "We know they were involved in drugs, too, but we just went ahead and arrested them for illegal immigration."

Since Alpharetta’s Crime Suppression Unit was instituted last year they’ve solved every case they’ve been assigned, which includes drugs, gangs and repeated felonies like the rash of entering auto thefts that have been plaguing Alpharetta and unincorporated North Fulton for the last several months.

"We could use twice the number of people we have now and we’d still be busy. People living here just don’t realize what’s going on," said Woods.

He said he wouldn’t be surprised if some of these same gang members show back up here some day even after they’ve been deported.

"One guy told me, ‘I’ll be back. It’s so easy. People here are stupid."’

Can you show me one legitimate study or proposal that shows how the border can be sealed?

If this kind of crap continues I'm going to have to exercise my option and get some good training.

My husband has many guns and insisted I learn how to shoot. We have to drive out to Gwinnett Co for target practice. Fulton County does not allow it. I did get a gun permit in Fulton but I couldn't learn how to use it in Fulton. Go figure.

The fence in Israel may work in Israel because they allow workers to enter at checkpoints. They don't have to wait three years for a green card.

The Secretary of Homeland Security says that we must enact a guest worker program that would allow the migrant workers to cross back and forth at legal checkpoints (like in Israel) before it will be possible to secure the border from terrotists, drug smugglers and MS-13 gangs.

WE TRIED TO SEAL THE BORDER AND ABANDONED THE PROJECT WHEN IT PROVED A DISMAL FAILURE

U.S. Mexico Border
This set of fences along with 32 guards per mile proved such a failure that Jsamie Gorelick's plan to build them all across the border was abandoned.
See Inspector General's Report on Operation Gate Keeper

Men willing to die to feed their children aren't going to be stopped by silly fences.

A Roswell policeman pulled over in my mini van on Alpharetta Hwy the other morning. I was doing 50 in a 40 mile zone. As the policeman was warning/lecturing me (rightfully so)I noticed that the Mexican labor pool was out in force directly across the street. I can name a few other pick-up labor sites from Roswell to Forsyth County. No one even tries to hide the fact that illegals are being hired for day labor.

Anyone paying attention probably knows where at least 2-3 of those places are at. Heck, on the streetcorner across from Home Depot is a good start at a guess. It works for one of the two nearby here (the Tillie Mill one).

Hey, rod, come back to the other thread. Someone just posted the late breaking news about the guy killed by the SWAT team in LA - you know, the guy who used his infant daughter as a human shield. Turns out he's an illegal alien. (But he's a GOOD man, he ran his own business and everything...!)

Armed Guardsmen with standing orders to shoot to kill will stop them.

But, I guess a few hundred murders is the price you pay for cheap lettuce, eh?

Ahh yes, the 'rod falls back on posting his lying photo which does not represent more than 2% of the border.

Which is as stupid as putting a door on a house with 25 openings with no doors, windows or locks, and then after the house is robbed again, claiming the "door test" proves doors don't work.

Are you really that stupid (I think not) or are do you have a covert agenda here?

My canned response to your canned quisling propaganda:

Living on the border, I can tell you that the fence there certainly needs to be improved - as do the border roads, lighting, sensors, etc. Surrendering our southern border is not an option. But I can tell you that the fence won't need to be that high if we remove the incentives for the border intruders to come here in the first place. Talk of a reward-the-criminal-invader scam only encourages more to cross.

The only legitimate solution which upholds our laws, preserves our national sovereignty, puts Americans first, and does not reward criminals is to NOT adopt a reward-the-criminal invader scam (aka. guest worker program) as you propose but to actually enforce our laws, crack down on dishonest criminal employers, and remove all of the incentives which draw the criminal invaders across our borders in the first place. The border crossing will slow to a trickle and those here illegally will go home.

The difference between you and me is that I favor a policy of enforcement that puts Americans first. You, instead, favor a policy of excusing the lawbreakers, offering them rewards and putting foreigners first.

Your solution forces Americans to bear the responsibility for supporting those who invade our country. My solution makes the invaders individually responsible for breaking and entering our nation and forces them and their accomplices to face the consequences for their actions.

Your solution encourages businesses to continue to engage in unfair and illegal business practices. My solution punishes criminal employers and benefits those who are obeying the law.

Your solution sympathizes with the lawbreaker. My solution penalizes the lawbreaker.

Your solution is soft on crime. My solution is tough on crime.

Your solution is to offer rewards and understanding to the invaders. I believe it is time to unleash the might and power of the United States law enforcement and military to repel the invaders and punish those who aid and abet them.

Your solution is a surrender. My solution has America protecting the rights and property of its citizens and preserving our sovereignty.

Ahhh, but he seems to have quieted down for now. Maybe something to do with that illegal alien in LA who got shot by the SWAT team while using his infant daughter as a human shield...

Don't worry, he'll be back soon enough.

bayourod,

I posted an article that included:

*****
As of press time, deportation proceedings were continuing on all 10 men.

"Several of them had teardrops tattooed under their eyes [a gang symbol that they’ve killed someone or someone close to them has been killed]. They also had SUR-13 tattoos on the backs of their heads and on their arms, and there were SUR-13 belts and hats lying around," said Alpharetta Sgt. You ended up saying:

"Men willing to die to feed their children aren't going to be stopped by silly fences."

Are you completely disconnected from reality??????

The fence that bayourod loves to post was built by Clinton/Gorelick. That answers everything.
