I don't know how many of you saw it this morning, but Fox newsbabe Kieran Gentry absolutely took Barbara Boxer to the woodshed this morning over Boxer's comments about John Roberts and his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Boxer was her usual self, talking about how at the appeals level, judges are not supposed to make law, but at the Supreme Court, they are supposed to inject their own ideology into it, so we need to know Roberts' ideology, etc., etc.. Then she brought up the "French Fry Case" and talked about how sad it was that Roberts had voted to keep a little 12-year old girl locked up for eating french fries.

Kieran Gentry cut in and said (paraphrasing) "Senator, wasn't that a unanimous decision of the court in that case which basically said that there was nothing in the consitution that prohibited the police from arresting her?"

Boxer answered back that no, she didn't think this was a unanimous decision, and, in fact, she thought that Roberts was in the minority on that decision.

Gentry: "Senator - I've read it - it was unanimous."

I was so proud of her.

For what it's worth, here's the Findlaw.com summary of the case in question:

In the unanimous ruling last October in Hedgepeth v. WMATA, Roberts upheld the arrest, handcuffing and detention of a 12-year-old girl for eating a single french fry inside a D.C. Metrorail station. "No one is very happy about the events that led to this litigation," Roberts acknowledged in the decision, but he ruled that nothing the police did violated the girl's Fourth Amendment or Fifth Amendment rights.

I watched that and it WAS excellent. It's a very good thing when reporters are well prepped and Gentry obviously was. Good job!

Senator Boxer always shows up for a battle of wits unarmed.

Yes I saw it and Boxer in her usual rude manner said, "oh well I guess you're not interested in rights." What must it be like to be such a b!tch!!!
Kyran did a great job!

I get to watch fox and friends now and I am glad you wrote this. I did not get to see her this a.m. I like Kieran and ED...good for Kieran. I really like Steve Duse and Brian and I even like it when they have Tiki Barber on as a cohost.

but at the Supreme Court, they are supposed to inject their own ideology into it

They are? I thought they were supposed to judge based on constitutionality, not personal ideology!

The guy James Rosen that Fox has at the White House was funny this morning too. He said that his wife is so beautiful, and that beyond that, she is very principled as well. She would rather die, he said, than put something back where it belongs!

I cracked up.

A good example of the difference between liberals and conservatives. Libs want rulings based on feelings and conservatives want rulings based on law. Roberts was right IMHO.

I watched it too. In addition to enjoying the slap-down and Bab's nervous blinking, I was mesmerized by her terrible lipstick application and smeary eyeshadow. Her lipstick was way outside the lines and straight across the center. Anybody else notice that? /chick cattiness

The left knows nothing other than alarmist tactics. Unfortunately, the media chimes right along with them.

Gentry: "Senator - I've read it - it was unanimous."

Now that's satisfying.
