SRINAGAR: Four terrorist groups have opposed the return of displaced Hindus to their abandoned homes in the Kashmir Valley, saying they had deserted the Muslim community during a "time of crisis."
"We impose a total ban on the return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants to the (Muslim-dominated) Kashmir Valley," said a joint statement by al Nasireen, al Arifeen, Save Kashmir Movement and Farzandan-e-Milat.
The statement faxed to local media offices in Srinagar said Hindus would not be allowed to return to their homes until "they apologise to the Kashmiri Muslims for having deserted them at the time of crisis."
Hindus fled between 1989 and 1990 when terror strikes began in Kashmir and the central government launched a major operation against the terrorists.
The statement follows talks three days ago between moderate Muslim separatists and leaders of displaced Hindus in Srinagar, aimed at persuading Hindus to return to their homes.
Nearly 200,000 Kashmiri Hindus, also known as Pandits, fled their homes in Kashmir when Kashmir started to burn.
Most have been living in shanties in the state's southern Hindu-dominated region of Jammu. Some fled Kashmir altogether for other parts of India.
Hindus have been demanding a separate homeland be carved out for them in the Kashmir Valley. The government and separatists oppose the idea.
Unidentified gunmen killed 24 Hindus in the southern village of Nadimarg in March 2003, setting back the government's efforts to resettle Hindus in Kashmir.
On Tuesday, Hindu leaders were warmly received in Srinagar by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the head of the moderate faction of the region's main separatist alliance the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
"Exchanging garlands with leaders of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference cannot absolve them (Pandits)," the statement said.
Kashmir is in the grip of a 15-year-old terror movement against the alleged Indian occupation of kashmir valley that has left tens of thousands dead.

The forgotten war. The MSM never touches this.
Oh right. Its ok when we say the Indians can't come back, but when the Israelis won't let the Palestinians back in, it's the end of the world!
Islamists everywhere need to be given a dose of their own medicine.
Same deal with Tibet..No MSM
I apologise if the pictures I posted were too raphic for some viewers. Reality bites.

Thanks for posting these pictures.
I've really had it with Muslim crap. All they do is sow death, destruction and hatred.
Screw them. It's time to get seriously medieval with them.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Raphic is fine.
I realised ;^)
But before I could press STOP, the friggin' thing got posted already, with the edited one following suit.
Surprised? If the US media was the least bit interested in this area, they would highlight the fact that Kashmiri Shias, as opposed to the SunniPakijihadis are pro India.
Paki Kashmir was cleansed of Shias by the Paki Army and AQ goons in 1995. nary a protest from anyone.
No problem. I am disgusted, but the graphics were appropriate for you to post.
Don't worry. Happens to everybody.
A finalist for the unmitigated gall awards. Muslim invaders occupy lands Hindus have lived in for millenia, drive them out over the centuries, most recently with a spate of terrorism, and then claim the Hindus abandoned the land. India might be the only country in the world where hundreds of thousands of people from the overwhelming majority have to live in refugee camps.
Looking forward to the Congress Party's strong, firm response to this </sarcasm>.
