I guess you have to be that old to remember when unconstitutional searches weren't routine.

Oh, puh-leeez! Back in the day, cops would routinely bust the asses and premises of people they considered to be "bad guys", and the streets and citizenry were much safer as a result. The old coot refused to follow his employer's policy, and he was shown the door. Cry me a freakin' river.

The employer in this case is a government institution, and thus is restricted by the same bonds that chain the government as a whole.

Exactly right. What is it with some people on this forum and in society in general that they believe rules should only apply to some people and not others? If you don't like the rules as they apply to you then you have a choice. Either have them changed or failing that quit your job. Being 79 or 85 or 110 doesn't confer any additional rights on a person.

Roger that, LPC. Figures that this one would bring out all the anti-drug war whiners. You got it spot on.

I have read where teachers are not randomly drug tested, and also, the people that conduct the tests, are not randomly drug tested.

I find this very hypocritical. Those in charge of supervising and teaching our children, are not randomly tested, and those performing the actual tests are not randomly tested.

There is something very wrong with this.
