I wonder how many thousands of pit bulls there are in this country. If every one of them was a rabid monster like some believe, there would be constant attacks.

Some of these dogs are terrible, that's true. But some humans suck pretty badly, too. Can't hate the whole crop.

I'd blame it on dogfighters, if anything.
They've given such a bad perception of the breed to everyone that you can't own one without people giving you funny looks. My neighbor is always asked what he would do if his dog 'got loose and attacked a child' or 'went mad' or 'got bitten by a rabid animal.' About the only thing that could cause that dog to do anything wrong IS rabies.
