A Division of Motor Vehicles counter clerk who reportedly told police he faked at least five state ID cards was charged Thursday with felony counts of bribery and misconduct in public office.
The state Department of Transportation has suspended Alfredo Ramirez, 41, of the 6300 block of W. Adler St. from his job without pay while an internal investigation is carried out, said Gary Guenther, director of the division's Bureau of Field Services.
Ramirez, a five-year DOT employee, is accused of working up a fake identification card for an undercover police officer who presented fake documents while Ramirez was working at the DMV office on College Ave. in South Milwaukee.
A criminal complaint filed Thursday says that the undercover police officer was steered to Ramirez by a husband-and-wife pair of go-betweens, Javier Reyes and Mariana Roman-Uscanga.
Reyes, 36, of the 900 block of W. Mineral Ave., was charged Tuesday with felony counts of forgery and manufacturing/delivering at least 40 grams of cocaine.
Roman-Uscanga, 27, of the same address, was charged Tuesday with a felony count of forgery.

That's often the case but this time I'm not so sure.
With the influx of illegal aliens, somewhere in the neighborhood of over 20 million, the selling of driver's licenses and ID has become widespread.
Hardly a week passes when some Motor Vehicle Department somewhere catches people working behind the counter selling licenses and IDs.
Considering that most of the people I have come in contact with working these bureaucratic jobs, and the fact that they are just barely employable, I'm not surprised.
The solution of course, one that will never occur to elected officials, is to stop illegal entry into the country.
