US Airways plane lands at RDU due to 'odor" in cabin

MORRISVILLE (AP) — A US Airways 757 passenger jet made an unscheduled landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Wednesday because of an odor in the cabin, an airport spokeswoman said.
Flight 274 was flying from Charlotte to Baltimore-Washington International Airport when the pilot reported an odor in the cabin, RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said. Smoke detectors went off, and the flight was diverted to RDU.
The plane landed "without incident" shortly before 9 a.m., and the 66 passengers aboard were taken off the plane. The odor, however, had dissipated by the time RDU crews boarded the aircraft, Hamlin said.
US Airways was trying to provide alternative flights to the passengers, she said.
