'Jersey Girl' Defends Jamie Gorelick

A member of the group, the "Jersey Girls," who lost her husband in the 9/11 attacks, is defending 9/11 Commission member Jamie Gorelick against allegations that, as deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, she blocked critical intelligence that had identified the two 9/11 hijackers who destroyed the World Trade Center.

"Gorelick gets a bad rap with that whole, you know, 'wall thing,'" Lorie Van Auken told WABC Radio's John Gambling - referring to Ms. Gorelick's 1995 directive prohibiting intelligence agencies from sharing evidence on suspected terrorists with law enforcement.

Calling it insread "the Reno wall," Van Auken insisted that its primary impact was limited to the investigation into so-called 20th hijacker Zacarias Moussaoui, where investigators were prevented from searching Moussaoui's computer until after the 9/11 attacks. Van Auken offered no comment on reports that the Gorelick restrictions bottled up critical intelligence on 9/11 conspirators Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi, whose hijacked planes destroyed the World Trade Center.

But Rep. Curt Weldon, who revealed earlier this week that military intelligence had identified Atta and al-Shehhi as terrorist threats operating inside the U.S. two years before the attacks, blamed the Clinton Justice Department's "wall."

"There was no reason not to share this information with the FBI," he complained in a radio interview Wednesday night, "except that the firewalls that existed back then were so severe that they wouldn't let these agencies talk to one another."

The sun rises and sets.

Humans need oxygen to breathe.

Bears do it in the woods.

The Pope is indeed Catholic.

When their mouths move, liberals are lying.

"Jersey Girl" defends Jaimie Gorelick.

"Gorelick is a traitor."

I sincerely HOPE you (and a lot of others) have a long term memmory [sic]! I'm betting that IF HRC becomes president (Lord help us all!!!), Miz Gorelick will be given the title attorney-general or some other important post...as a payback for protecting the Clintons. This just can't happen!!

Many have suggested this.

If Gorlick is an attorney, perhaps a bar complaint is in order.

It is INCONCEIVABLE that they can pass this INTENTIONAL COVERUP as just some staffer.

I hope the archive department keeps VERY close tabs on every single piece of paper now that the staffers are examining the files to "review".

How long will it take for Curt Weldon to be discredited as just another member of the "extreme right-wing fringe?" Thus, making him a kook that will no longer be taken seriously.

"Van Auken insisted that its primary impact was limited to the investigation into so-called 20th hijacker Zacarias Moussaoui, where investigators were prevented from searching Moussaoui's computer until after the 9/11 attacks"

This is monumental, staggering, outrageous, unfathomable idiocy!! (or simply bias to protect the 'Rats) First, even supposing that 'only' the Moussaoui investigation was blocked by the 'wall' it is unbelievably complacent and ignorant for her to say "no big deal" - investigating Moussaoui and his laptop leads vigorously in Aug. 2001 MIGHT have led to all sorts of useful results in blocking the 9/11 plot. Second, even if agencies still failed to stop the 9/11 plot, other plots MIGHT have been pending and might have been stopped. Third, she has no way of knowing that there were no other investigations obstructed by the stupid wall. Incredible that one of the "Jersey Girl" widows can be so ignorant and complacent, when they supposedly made it their mission to prevent future 9/11s......

I hate to sound insensitive, but when you consider that nearly 3000 people died in the WTC attacks, the left will easily be able to find somebody's relative who will say anything. They should ask this woman when she first found out who Gorelick is, because my guess is that it was the same time she gave this quote.

I agree with you. Who knows what or who was in these people's personal lives.

For all we know the "jersey girls" could have been women of mixed marriages (conservative husbands and liberal women). They could have been politically silent to further the husband's careers and their own lifestyle to which they had become accostomed.

Husband and Wife could have been die hard left wingers and this just adds more fuel to their blame america first mentality.

None of this changes the fact that Gorelicks wall KILLED people just as easily as any airplane. If she were in the private sector she would have been sued long before now.

Prior to the 9/11 commission hearings a couple years ago, I only had a vague idea of who Gorelick was, and I keep on top of this stuff. My hunch is that this Jersey girl doesn't really understand what the Gorelick memo did, and she certainly doesn't understand that the only reason it was ever written was to cover-up various Clintonista crimes.

She is not paid to understand, she is paid to bark on command.

Interesting that the first action of the MSM on this is not to attack the republicans on the commission but to JUMP to the defense of Gorlick.

It is like a cartoon bad guy admitting guilt by denying too much with details.

This issue about Gorelick was brought up during the hearings and now it's obvious the Commission was covering up her role. She should do the honorable thing and fess up about her real role.

Gorlick is protecting her viability as a future cabinet holder.

Gorlick was on the pannel to cover up, it was the only way to "protect" her.

Somebody needs to post armed guards at the 9/11 commission notes.

The same reason Berger needed to steal those documents.
