When he walks on to a movie set, he usually gets star treatment.

But as Tom Hanks arrived at the Lincoln Cathedral yesterday, he found himself somewhat upstaged.

A handful of protesters were making their feelings known about the decision to film scenes from The Da Vinci Code in the historic building.

I'm sorry to see Hanks involved in this farce, because he usually seems to be a decent enough guy whatever his politics might be. Since it's now OK to make a movie based on a fraud, can I make a flick about Scientology?

Yes, you can. It is a movie. You can make a movie about how Jesus Christ started Scientology if you want. I think the real issue is how this affects the less informed among us who internalize movies presented in a factual manner however false and easily diprovable they might be. (See Michael Moore flicks.) How do we ensure that people take the time to check the facts after they see something like this?

My impression of Tom Hanks is that he's a very nice, decent man who is ruled by his heart rather than his head, hence his support of liberal causes.

Go ahead, but even if it's 100% factual I hope you have a LOT of money for lawyers to defend you.

You can't. And I personally don't care about the masses being so willfully ignorant, anymore. If all they want to do is party, play, and think "the Man" is out to get them, F*** 'em.

It's not farce, it's fiction.

Hanks' career is going to start sliding really soon. It's hard to understand the arrogance on the left and the deep disrespect they have for religious people on the right. Do they think that their careers won't be affected when a significant portion of the country no longer wants to see them?

I consider myself to be a Libertarian, but I always seem to vote Republican. I can always see clearly that hatred for this country, its Constitution and for its religious people always comes from the left.

Incidentally, Tom Hanks' performance in "The Ladykillers" was a disaster. He obviously tried to copy Alec Guiness in the original classic and he failed not only miserably but ludicrously.

Hanks has enough Hollywood Horsepower to make movies that he himself can act in. He's on the Robert Redford track.

Unless you have met Hanks, you don't know him. What you know is what is edited for TV presentation.

I have no information on which to judge mr. Hanks. To me, he is just another guy that can memorize lines and change his facial expressions. Acting is not science, math, or biology.

Yeah, like Hollywood would ever make such a movie. It would be great if somebody with their own production company (like Mel Gibson) would take on Scientology.

Do all those millions upon millions of people who bought and read the book have some sort of deep disrespect for religious people? This is a pulp adventure no more about Catholicism then 'National Treaure' was about American history.

At what point in time did movies have to be non-fiction?

This movie was made by a Scientolgist and is not an objective look AT Scientology.

A prospective movie about the history of Scientology is a fascinating subject.

I listen to people talk about this book at work. They believe it! Do not underestimate the stupidity of people. Especially otherwise intellegent professional people.

uhh. It's FICTION!!!!

Is the Christianity so weak and feeble that it can not stand fiction?

Or shall we ban these books and burn the authors at the stake. You know, more like Islam...

"I listen to people talk about this book at work. They believe it! Do not underestimate the stupidity of people. Especially otherwise intellegent professional people."

Quick question.

Even if SOME of the book were true, would that instantly make Jesus not the way, the truth and the light?

He would still be the messiah.

To me...no problem. To the easily led...it closes doors.
