"That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together," Cindy said.

Look how far down she has gone since that statement. Cindy Sheehan's hate has eaten her alive. She's a walking testament of what hate can and will do to you, if you let it.

"No, she didn't want to know why her son died in Iraq. She said she wanted to know why President Bush "murdered" him."

Your discernment is subtle but important. If she were to ask why her son died she would find out that the enemy of the USA and those our military (and her son)fought and do fight. That important, most material fact does not fit with her political agenda.

I think that we should all recall that mothers often become somewhat deranged after the death of a child. Her irrational grief deserves some sympathy

This doesn't mean that her opinions should be honored, but merely that that her actions, however misguided, are not unusual for a mother who cannot accept death.

It'd be interesting to see if there is any data to show how common such emotional irrationality is. Anecdotally this seems quite common.... I wonder just how common it really is...

Why are Liberals too embarassed to call themselves Liberals? Who are they fooling with this 'progressive' nonsense?

My parish priest told me he was a "progressive" when I was expressing my displeasure to him about the ordination of a homosexual as a bishop in the ECUSA.

I told him that perhaps he did not want to categorize himself as a "progressive" as conservatives look upon "progressives" as liberals with no balls.

Now I'm not sure how Casey Sheehan died, but could it have partly been because of al-Zarqawi? Why doesn't she go to his hideout and ask HIM for answers?

Poor Cindy. As soon as the MSM returns to Washington, she'll be discarded like an old shoe. I saw her interview with Chris Matthews, and she's clearly deranged with greif. I just don't feel the media spotlight is the right place to get the help she needs. When the camera's are gone, the darkness won't bring the light she needs.
She blames the wrong people for her loss. She should be putting it on the terrorist that set that bomb.
My friend lost her son, 28 years old to a heart attack. If we followed the road Cindy's on, we should set up Camp Ben at McDonalds.

Poor, poor Cindy is nothing but a traitorous nut job, just like any other lib!

In the end, she will write a book that enough libs will buy to make her very wealthy. OR, in a couple of years we might all see video of her pushing a stolen shopping cart that contains her worldly goods from one dumpster to another. Just another rag lady in the making.

Her brave son died a hero and she can't change that. It's too bad he died embarrassed of his own mother.

Cindy Sheehan: America "a country that always supports war and killing."

My oldest brother died in a hiking accident when he was just 22. My Mom was quite overcome with grief; however she never blamed the mountains, the Forest Service, or the Sierra Club for his death, or asked why they murdered him.

The point of my post, which you seemed to have missed, was not to deny her sympathy; but just to point out that her son, and his heroism, ought to be the focus here, not her grief.

While I understand what it is like to grieve, I have never lost a loved one in war. That said, Cindy is dishonoring her son and all he stood for and believed in. As we were taught in school, freedom of speech does not give you the right to yell "Fire" in a movie theater. Ms. Sheehan and her associates have resorted to, what is called in the sports world, "talkin' trash". Thats fine when there is just a game on the line, not lives.

A question for all you historians out there. WWII resulted in a lot more deaths than this war. Certainly there were a lot more grieving moms (and families). How did they handle it? Were there protests outside FDR's home? Were there organized protests anywhere? I don't know. Just curious.

I just joined so please excuse slowness in responding. I think slow but type even slower.

"Why do you hate President Bush? You don't even know yourself. I have asked well over a hundred people who say they hate President Bush. I have yet to receive an intelligent ,corherent[sp?] answer."

This is so true, as I have asked the same question of my moonbat friends (and sadly, relatives). They cannot articulate a response, and usually resort to saying something brilliant like, "well, he's just stupid".

Some independent commentators said the pushback on the right has succeeded at scuffing the public sympathy and deference she had earned as the mother of a fallen soldier, and has shown how virtually any subject relating to the Iraq war and Bush's presidency is viewed through a partisan lens.

Of course the left doesn't view the war through a partisan lense?
