News Advisory:

On Monday, August 22, at 11 a.m., Marq Anderson, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) national tour manager, will outline plans to remove the military combat boots worn in Iraq by Casey Sheehan from the exhibition "Eyes Wide Open: The Human Cost of War," which is currently in Philadelphia. Anderson will return the boots to Casey's grieving mother, Cindy Sheehan, in Crawford, Texas. The event takes place at Friends Center, in the Rufus Jones Room, 1501 Cherry Street, in Philadelphia.

Marq has been in constant contact with Cindy since her arrival in Crawford. Sheehan was forced to leave Crawford last Thursday, after learning her mother suffered a stroke. He leaves Philadelphia today traveling to Texas to return Casey's boots to his mother upon her return there later this week

Earlier this year, Sheehan donated her son Casey's boots to AFSC's traveling exhibition Eyes Wide Open: The Human Cost of War, which displays a pair of combat boots for every military casualty in Iraq. The exhibition continues growing as the death toll continues to rise.

Sheehan tearfully sat Casey's boots alongside thousands of combat boots representing fallen U.S. soldiers while Eyes Wide Open was on display at Independence Mall in Philadelphia over the July 4 weekend.

... Casey's grieving mother...

Should say Casey's scheming mother. This woman quit grieving when she brought Israel/Palestine into the mix.

Where else could a woman this homely get this kind of attention. She is eating it up.

Reminds me a lot of Mrs. Brady who's husband was shot with Ron Reagan. Brady a gun collector himself would crap if he knew what was going on with his old lady. They turn their grief into publicity, takes their mind off their sorrow. Wouldnt be so bad if it didnt do so much harm.

Dear Cindy~

You've used your dead son's coffin as a soup box to preach hate, used articles of your son's BDU to preach hate- why not further desecrate your son by putting his remains on display and preach your hate over your son's dead body?

You do your country and your son a disservice - do us all a favor, shut up and go home.

There has been a vocal father in Crawford who does NOT want his son being represented with a cross at the protest sites. They continue to put up a cross for him.

This is not about respecting the dead. It is about making a symbolic display for the world media.

Marq Anderson, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) national tour manager,

I don't know the guy, but that seems like a pretty 'gay' way to spell MARK.
