Kevin Trudeau "Natural Cures"
The Smoking Gun ^

Posted on 08/30/2005 6:26:59 AM PDT by KeyLargo

Before he struck gold with slick infomercials and the best-selling "Natural Cures" self-help book, Kevin Trudeau was your basic money-hungry convicted felon, a guy whose rap sheet included credit card fraud and grand larceny convictions. On the plus side, Kev once served as president of Junior Clowns of America. For more on the ex-fraudster du jour, go here:

I was interested in Mr. Trudeau's book, but now I am not so sure.

A clever way to package snake oil.

I haven't the book, but from what I hear, it's long with references to buy other books and short on actual "cures".

Garlic, vinegar, olive oil, carrots, almonds, dark chocolate, and a slug or two of some great whiskey .......... and all will be fine.

;-)

I bought this book a few weeks ago looking for a natural cure for an illness my brother has.

I flipped through a few chapters when I got home and got right back in the car and returned this book.

It is a MAJOR ripoff.

You cannot live the way this nut suggests you live. Magnets under the bed. Diets that are impossible to follow. Greatly reduced contact with people, televisions, cell phones, computers because of electromagnetic impulses. He's a kook.

The guy is basically right about the drug/medical community.

Too bad his book doesn't give the cure to getting rid of conmen. It's amazing what people will fall for by watching an infomercial. Maybe FR should run an infomercial about how to cure Liberalism?

I have a Degree in Natropathic Medicine and have a problem with "Natural ways" to cure diseases.

It opens up a can of worms to self medication when the problem is not known. If one goes to a Doctor, a bigger problem may be found than a bunch of symptoms which can be masked by a natural cure.

I always worked hand in hand with an MD.

Now if anyone needs stress relief, I can do that. Many symptoms can be overcome with reflexology and nutrition, if they are stress related.

Using cheesey info-mercials to con suckers out of their hard-earned money is good practice for a career in politics. Have the Dems approached Mr. Trudeau about a Senate bid yet?

Yeah, but you get that from watching his infomercial.

No he is not.

Without patent medicines, a huge percentage of us would be dead or dieing of easily preventable diseases. No I don't work for 'big pharma'.

If he specifies 16yo Lagavulin, he may just be on to something!

"The guy is basically right about the drug/medical community."

It is true. There are natural alternatives to many of the drugs we use today.

You're right, but most "medicines" that people take are useless. Look in your bathroom and see what you could live well without. You could throw most of the stuff out and you would be fine.

Oh, I am sure several of the natural alternatives are, but this guy is mostly pushing kookery.

True, to a large extent. And that's the thing about really successful con artists. They can slip in just enough of a truth to cover the lies.

Wasn't he the same guy who years ago, promoted a book to help people expand their memory and remember facts and details easily ? I think it was called MEGA-MEMORY and was a best-seller too.

Anybody have any insights on that product he was selling ?

I have a Degree in Natropathic Medicine and have a problem with "Natural ways" to cure diseases.

Naturopathic (spelled with a "U") is defined as a system of treatment of disease that avoids drugs and surgery and emphasizes the use of natural agents (as air, water, and sunshine) and physical means (as manipulation and electrical treatment). I'm confused.
