Sheehan protesting Blue Angels Air Show (via Veterans for peace)
Veterans for Peace--Maine chapter ^

Posted on 08/30/2005 7:32:28 AM PDT by FeeinTennessee

COUNTDOWN TO THE STATEWIDE PROTEST/VIGIL AT BRUNSWICK NAVAL AIR STATION

When: Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005

Where: March begins at Brunswick Mall, and ends at NASB Main Gate

Time: 9 A.M. (at the Mall)

The Event We're Protesting: The Navy's "Blue Angels" Air Show

Theme of Our Protest: "Stop the Worship of the Gods of War!"

On Sat., Sept. 10th, Maine Veterans for Peace will be joined by other major peace and justice groups (see list of co-sponsors below) in a massive protest:

. to protest the false god idolatry of the Blue Angels Air Show, whose "ooh-&-aah"performances have one purpose: to promote badly-lagging military recruitment to protest the obscene waste of American tax dollars to stage these Blue Angels' multi-million dollar extravaganzas

. to protest Bush's immoral, monomaniacal Iraq war -- nearly 1,800 U.S. and 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead, at a cost of over $300 billion, and still counting

. to protest NASB's complicity with the war machine, providing surveillance aircraftto target ground forces, which in the end cause horrendous "collateral damage"

. to challenge NASB to convert to peaceful purposes, creating good-paying high-tech/industrial jobs, making products that improve lives, not end them

We urge you to join us Sept. 10 in Brunswick. Also joining us will be Kathy Kelly (Founder: Voices in the Wilderness) and Cindy Sheehan (Founder: Gold Star Families for Peace)

REPORT ON GODS OF WAR DEMONSTRATION PLANNING MEETING

VETERANS FOR PEACE PLANNING STATEWIDE DEMO

On September 10, Maine Veterans for Peace (VFP) will hold a statewide demonstration in Brunswick to protest the planned appearance of the Navy's "Blue Angels" flight performance team. Calling their action "Stop the Worship of the Gods of War! Say No to the Blue Angels Air Show," VFP is planning a rally on the Brunswick mall to be followed by a march to the front gate of the Naval Air Station. Over 40,000 people are expected to attend the air show thus creating the opportunity to reach with many with our anti-war message.

The VFP intends to concentrate on four key themes as it builds this action. The themes are the obvious idolatry of weapons, the enormous cost of war as social spending is cut, the need for conversion of the military-industrial complex, and the military recruiting nature of the air show.

Peace groups in Maine are invited to join as co-sponsors of the action and are invited to the next planning meeting. It will be held on June 25 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Brunswick public library. Call Bruce Gagnon at 729-0517 for more details.

A meeting was held in Brunswick today to plan for the Veterans for Peace demonstration set for September 10 to protest the Navy's Blue Angels Air show that will be held at the Naval Air Station Brunswick (NASB) on September 10-11.

The meeting was attended by Jack Bussell, Bob Lezer, John Wirtz, Peter Stewart, Dud Hendrick, Christine DeTroy and Bruce Gagnon.

We have to use Sheehan as a wedge issue.

Democrats have to be forced to reject sheehan. NO BS, or WEASEL WORDS.

You either support her with silence or you reject her with actions.

No quarter, no middle ground.

This is now the USA vs the MSM's defeat effort.

"This is now the USA vs the MSM's defeat effort."

I have begun to think, as of late, the media is the most dangerous foe we face in this conflict. Never in my life have I ever witnessed anything like this. They are actively trying to cost America lives and rejoice in any bumps we hit along the way in this conflict. I assert the MSM is a very dangerous and decietful enemy right now.

Although its always been obvious to freepers maybe some of the anti iraq war crowd will realize that this is not about Iraq at all but about military action in general...i.e. these so called peace activists are opposed to all military action regardless of the consequences of pacifism.

And what really gets me is they think they are so nobel and humanitarian when in fact they aid and abet brutality, torture, and genocicide. I can't stand em!!

This is so disgusting. I hope that crowd of 40,000, the one these bottomfeeders hope to reach with their "message", turns on them.

I've never heard of anything so petty, hateful and mean spirited. Even from the left, this takes the cake.

Go Blue Angels!

Went to Mt. Comfort air show here in Indianapolis Saturday to witness the precision of the Blue Angels. Friends were retired navy also. We were so very proud of our "angels". The show was awesome and I wanted to go back on Sunday!

The cheers were heartfelt when the "angels" flew over.

Let the "peace freaks" whine and show their cowardly wimpiness. I just wish these idiots would go to "taliban" country and live.

I wonder what they'll say when that stuff starts happening here. We are in a real war for survival, and all they want to do is play politics. I share your sentiments.

This woman is beyond crazy. She has grown tiresome.

Artilce III, Section III

"TREASON - WHAT AND HOW PUNISHED

1. Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or IN ADHERING TO THEIR ENEMIES, GIVING THEM AID AND COMFORT"...(my captials).

Constitution of the United States.

Sheehan and thousands like her sabotaged the Viet Nam War - a war we could have and should have won.

Permitting her and people like her to do the same thing again in this situation will result in consequneces far more severe than our pull-out in Viet Nam.

She and her supporters - every last one - should be arrested for treason and appropriately dealt with.

Cindy and her band of thugs have been busted. All this time they've been saying that they really, really support the troops, and that they really love the military personnel. They claim that all their anger is directed at President Bush. Now all of a sudden they're protesting a display of naval airpower.

Cindy and her moonbats love the military? Yeah, right. Too bad the Blue Angels' aircraft won't be carrying any ordnance during their performance. If they were they could really give Cindy and her terrorist-loving friends an up close and personal display of naval airpower.

I'm curious how much gasoline Ms. Sheehan is going to burn through on her bus tour. Someone needs to ask this question of her supporters in the face of a potential looming energy crunch.
