>> I went to a very popular wilderness survival class last fall -- www.trackerschool.com if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the info. Haven't been in wilderness survival since I was in the Boy Scouts, but this looks interesting and worthwhile.

If you get the time, money and opportunity, you will NEVER regret it. Tom Brown is an amazing person. Incredibly intense and inspiring.

In fact, almost every day I have time where I feel very guilty sitting here at a computer chair when I should be working on my survival skills. :)

I met the neatest people, too, from all walks of life--liberal Democrats with Gaia stickers on their bumpers, and plenty of military. The former student and volunteer who helped me (finally) make fire without matches or anything was a Marine from Camp Pendleton.

A simple, inexpensive survival kit for the urban jungle is readily available.

Go to your food store and buy enough water, sardines, and canned food of your choice for a week for all members of your family. Then go to the nearest gun store and buy a shotgun and 250 rounds of 00 buckshot.

Problem solved.

Oh, don't forget to buy some good books and a radio and batteries.
