PRISCILLA OWEN (born: 1954), for Associate Justice! A very principled woman, she is also a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Mission in Austin, Texas where she teaches Sunday School and serves as the head of the altar guild.
(Two months ago, I bet on Roberts for SCJ...)

Good for you for predicting Roberts (I had guessed Janice Rogers Brown); however, I would be VERY surprised to see Owen become a member of the SC any time soon (there's too many other candidates out there who are much better, IMHO).

I would prefer that the speculation and jockeying over Rehnquist's replacement wait until Roberts is confirmed.

(Is Roberts really a conservative?)

Wow. Owens sounds very much like O'Connor.
Too many scumbag Democrats seem to like her and that scares me.

She's an excellent judge, but she's only been in her current position for a very short time. Same with Janice Rogers Brown. Let them make records on the Federal Bench, and then nominate them in the future.

Texans have historically been underrepresented on the Court...our President from Texas needs to address this injustice.
(There has only been one Texan on the Court to date, the awful Tom Clark, father of Ramsey Clark...Truman later said that picking Clark was his biggest mistake as President. LBJ made Ramsey Clark Attorney General in part to force Tom Clark to resign from the Supreme Court.)
