I just saw on Fox News a clip of Kirstin Dunst criticizing the response, and seeing the upside that this disaster would at least cause political change. I don't rememmber the exact words, but she was like Cindy Sheehan. She saw the loss as a chance to bring down the Republicans.

I guess I could be misinterpreting her remarks. Perhaps she meant that this disaster would teach Louisianna citizens not to vote into office incompetent and/or corrupt Democrat politicians who do everything wrong and then blame a Republican. They can bus the "disenfranchised" Democrat voters to the polls when their vote is needed, but when they order a mandatory evacuation, it nevers occurs to them to use 500 municipal buses and school buses to evacuate the same people who voted for them.

The State and local Democrat leadership do everything wrong, and expect the feds to arrive like Deus ex machina and sweep everyone up in their arms and make everything right. And then loot the taxpayers to rebuild New Orleans better than it was, with lots of graft and kickbacks for LA politicians.

And if the feds had responded with force early on to impose order, shooting a few looters, the media would have painted it as the end of freedom in America, and the Democrats would have filed impeachment charges in the House. They would have equated Bush to Franco and Pinochet and Hitler, and would have screamed about "unnecesary" force.

It would not surprise me if, at some point, there was some strategerizing going on by delaying getting Federal help enough to immediately yell that 'it's Bush's fault!'.

The Dims have jumped on this so quickly, they're saying Bush should be impeached - just like they did with the Karl Rove affair, Cindy Sheehan & all the other issues ala carte.

They are cold enough to back abortion, they would be cold enough to sacrifice a 'few of their own' to make a political point. Gov. Blanko has hired Clinton's FEMA director to help her with this catastrophe. I'm sure she's conferred with other Clinton people as well. It's terrible to say, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Plus, it has a side benefit of a huge inflow of money to fix the problems they ignored.

Anyone have that cartoon showing a Democrat with a rainy cloud over his head who was standing next to a Republican with no cloud? The point of the cartoon was that Democrats always have this negative doom & gloom outlook - which is so true.

I am very perplexed as to why the Left isn't celebrating after Hurricane Katrina. After all doesn't this validate in every way Darwinism??? The strong survive and the weak and stupid die off. Isn't this a natural thinning of the Gene Pool. Doesn't the MSM and the Left believe in Darwin anymore, they sure do cry a lot when the topic of intelligent design comes up, let alone be taught in public schools. If memory serves me the entire city was ordered to evacuate, everyone knew this was going to be killer hurricane, yet they chose to stay and attempt to prove Darwin wrong. The MSM and the Left should be celebrating this Natural Act of Darwin in play.

Well, that was my understanding also. These are the lies that are being widely circulated. They are saying that the breaches occurred on Mon. AM. Someone in the administration had better get out in front of this nonsense and all the other lies quickly. If we wait for hearings, their (the hearings) agendas will be set in stone and the truth will never reach the majority of the American people. If that is the case, whatever is needed to prevent a this kind of tragedy in the future will not be forthcoming.
We here at FR know a lot of the truth, but a great many people don't. The administration must get on the ball with this.

not only sick, but completely talentless. I meant zip zero nada. There is nothing humorous, witty, or ironic about any of his sick twisted freak cartoons. It's all about shock value with him. (that and the F word)

I first heard of the breach in the levees on FR on Tuesday morning. Someone had heard about a doctor in one of the hospitals calling someone to let them know that water was rising outside the building at 2am on Tuesday. Most folks didn't know about it until they woke up in the morning on Tuesday, and the worst of the flooding was evident on Tuesday afternoon. There were Coast Guard crews out almost immediately, and were in full rescue mode on Wednesday, because I was riveted to my TV watching them all day long. Those CG folks are the biggest heroes in my opinion!

They are saying that the breaches occurred on Mon. AM.

The breaches were not evident just after the storm passed through. Monday evening, after the worst of the winds had blown through, the city leaders were breathing a sign of relief that they'd dodged another bullet. People were milling around the French Quarter, and it was high and dry. By Tuesday night, there was water on the streets of the lower areas of the Quarter that was NOT there after the storm passed through on Monday.

Well, in a field, you need fertilizer, and they are spreading about as much bovine scat as they can. Then, after time, we will have plenty of ripe tomatos to throw in their faces. We did it with 9/11 and the commission. We can do it again. Our field day will come at harvest time.

Start doing the best you can and post it on a blog site. Your art talent wil improve with practice. Plus, most of the cartoons out there are of low level anyway, so you'll fit in well. Once you make a few good points and get popular, you will get offers.

Go for it. And, remember to give God credit for the gift of a mind and for the gift of the desire to do it.

I bet, if the tables were turned, the right would have a field day with a liberal president.

Just now Jamie Lee Whitt, who wrote the evacuation plan and Governor Blanco, who was in charge of executing the evacuation plan were on ABC's Good Morning Amercica. Any questions about WHY they abandoned the bus evacuation plan?

Democrat Party Suck-Up Diane Sawyer, who did not hesitate to lead the tough questioning of the Deputy Director of FEMA, predictably slid into her sweet-but-dumb-blonde persona as soon as Blanco and Whitt showed up.

(Time of leveé break)..."Anyone know for sure?"

Sequence:

Washington tells Louisiana to execute the evacuation plan.

The Governor makes a speech, the mayor calls for a legal study, while hundreds of DRYbuses sit in New Orleans under lock and key for more than 72 hours.

CNN, ABC, CBS, and yes FOX cheerfully inform the nation on Monday night that New Orleans has "Dodged the bullet." Revellers on Bourbon Street toast the city's survival.

.... The very first report that the levée may have failed came at 2:47 am EDT on Tuesday. Washington begins to alert outside forces. Helicopters cannot fly in the SE United States because it is engulfed in Tropical Storm Katrina (you may have heard of it......

Within 72 hours from the break in the levee, the most MASSIVE federal assitance in history was on scene and working.

Hurricane Katrina highlights the differences between the way liberals and conservatives handles a crisis. Liberals are group thinkers. The mayor did not use all his resources (buses, first responders (police, fire, and others) in the three days before the hurricane hit because he was afraid to act alone. Liberal politicians are not big on personal responsibility. After the hurricane, the liberal governor was unable to act. The federal government had to push her aside, and take over. Now the wishy-washy mayor and governor are blaming each other and President Bush for their failures to act.

Liberals are also wishful thinkers. "If I don't think about it, maybe it will go away." The Democratic politicians in New Orleans refused to made contingency plans for when the city would flood. My 84 year old mother is a typical liberal thinker. She told me that she understood why people did not evacuate before the hurricane, "After all, the hurricane could have stopped (snapped fingers) just like that. And then they'd have wasted gas returning home for nothing."

Conservatives are not big on "Group Think". Conservatives are less worried about what is politically correct, or what a forcus group might say. And conservative politicians are much more likely to create extensive contingency plans. Texas was ready, willing and able to help folks from New Orleans because their public officials think like conservatives, not like liberals. The contingency plans Texas officials are using, was created for a future category 4 or 5 hurricane hitting Corpus Christi.
