I find it of great interest that all these people who for 5 years called Bush a wouldbe Hitler and wannabe Military Dictator are know upset Bush didn't throw away the law and send in the troops from the start.

Well, THEY would have.

I actually had a lib ask me elsewhere if I thought it reasonable that President Bush 'let' those people die in order to preserve some theory of states rights and/or federalism.

And here I thought that a Governor could (all on his/her own) muster his state's National Guard and all things like that there ...

People who don't understand our system of government tend to assume the President has much more power to do things than he in fact does (thank you, James Madison). The History Channel this week is doing a series of programs about the Roman Empire...one "expert" last night opined that the President of the U.S. might be considered "emperor of the world."
