Gaza Synagogues to be Left Intact
Jerusalem Post ^ | 9/11/05 | HERB KEINON

The cabinet voted Sunday to leave about two dozen synagogues in the Gaza Strip intact, leaving the fate of the houses of worship in the hands of the Palestinians.

The cabinet voted 14-2 against razing the structures, even though a year ago the same ministers approved the demolitions. Critics said last-minute considerations - including a desire to win the support of leading rabbis ahead of general elections - prompted several Cabinet members to change their minds.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told his cabinet ministers Sunday morning that he opposed the demolition of the synagogues in the Gaza Strip as part of Israel's withdrawal from the territory, a participant in the meeting said.

During Sunday's meeting, the government also voted to officially approve the end of Israel's 38-year occupation of the Gaza Strip.

Sharon's announcement supporting the preservation of the synagogues reversed a position he articulated just two weeks ago.

‘snip’

Sharon said he feared desecration of the synagogues; he recalled going to Hebron soon after the Six Day War in 1967 and seeing a synagogue dating back to the 1600s turned into a latrine and sheep pen.

"Shalom said he hoped the PA would not allow "barbarism and vandalism" to prevail, but that if it would, the world would know with whom Israel was dealing."

The vermin will destroy them in the first 24 hours.

This was a DUMB decision!

Why should the Israelis destroy them to prevent the
Palestinians from looking like the animals they are?

This was a SMART move.

This was a SMART move.

I agree. Let there be news footage on every TV all over the world showing what they do with these synagogues. Remind the left-wing panderers of these animals of their shame.

First of all, to film the desecrations you need PERMISSION from various armed entities in Gaza. Dream on - maybe al jazeera.

Second, none of the MSM is gonna air the film - too inflamatory, one-sided, or whatever other excuse they give.

Lastly, the lefties (can we change that - I'm left-handed - how about the uppers & downers) hate the jews & will dance in the streets as the desecration occurs. Remember, these are the same people who encourage Cindy Sh*thead to desecrate the heroic death of her own son!

You seem like many other reasonable, moral people, who continually expect reasonable, moral responses from unreasonable, immoral people. It ain't gonna happen!

Personally, I would not want my former place of worship to be fouled by the presence of one filthy palistinian.

Churches are the last refuge, not the first abandoned. Sad.

From another article:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1482384/posts

"We refuse to cooperate with the decision not to demolish the synagogues," Khoussa told Israel Radio, "and therefore we refuse to participate in the ceremony."

Let's put this in perspective.

The decision NOT to destroy the Synagogues was taken because the Chief Rabbis of Israel said under Jewish law (Halacha) destruction was impermissable.

Nevertheless the PA and its spokesmen show NO respect for the Jewish religion and demand the utter destruction of 35+ buildings by Israeli authorities.

How does this compare to the outrage by Muslims at the alleged unofficial abuse of one Koran which resulted in riots and deaths and mass chest beating by the media and Washington?

I remember what they did to Josephs tomb. They destroyed everything Jewish and painted it Islamic green. The left and the MSM said nothing. Nobody did anything about it.

You think the MSM will carry footage of the desecration? Fat Chance!!! Now let an Israeli be less than totally respectful in front of a mosque or touch a Koran with an ungloved hand... Why, that's an international incident!

With the Arabs/Muslims history repeats itself.

"Interior Minister Ophir Pines-Paz and Minister-without-Portfolio Haim Ramon voted to destroy the buildings. Communications Minister Dalia Itzik abstained."

"Sharon said he feared desecration of the synagogues; he recalled going to Hebron soon after the Six Day War in 1967 and seeing a synagogue dating back to the 1600s turned into a latrine and sheep pen." ===========================================================

"After the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem was captured (May-1948), the destruction, desecration and systematic looting of Jewish sites began and continued. 57 ancient synagogues (the oldest dated to the 13th century), libraries and centers of religious study were ransacked and 12 were totally and deliberately destroyed."

"On the Mount of Olives, the Jordanian Arabs removed 38,000 tombstones from the ancient cemetery and used them as paving stones for roads and as construction material in Jordanian Army camps, including use as latrines.

Why give them free places for mosques, from which there will be much preaching of hatred and destruction?

If they don't get the mosques free, the American taxpayers will pay to build them new ones...Besides, one might wonder what God thinks when these animals use the Jewish houses of God to preach their vile hatred against the Jews or turn them into pig pens or toilets...

I can't help but imagine the scene at the White Throne Judgement...When these people come up before the throne and bend a knee, and God says, Yasser...Yasser Arafat...What did you do to my people...My chosen people??? Wha, Wha, Bu, Bu, But,,,

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
