Illegal immigration tarnishes America (someone fighting back)
Tide Pool ^ | 09.14.05 | ROBERT VASQUEZ

Posted on 09/14/2005 12:03:10 PM PDT by Ben Mugged

As a Canyon County commissioner in rural Idaho, I live every day with the consequences of our hypocritical immigration policy. Federal officials say it is our policy to block illegal immigration, but our southern border is so open than millions of people manage to come through, overcoming the desert's hazards of killing heat and rapacious "coyotes" who lead them to this country for outrageous sums of money.... Because I believe that employers should be held accountable for knowingly hiring illegal aliens and taking jobs away from Americans, I have spearheaded a lawsuit, joined by my fellow county commissioners, against four major agricultural companies and the nonprofit Migrant Council. We charge them of conspiring to hire and aid undocumented workers in violation of the federal Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Better know as RICO, the law was designed to target the Mafia, but I think it is appropriate here..... Meanwhile, others do nothing, proposing and debating various weak bills in Congress, while here in Canyon County, population 151,000, the sheriff's office has uncovered two methamphetamine distribution rings fueled by illegal immigrants.... I have tried repeatedly to call attention to these problems, even attempting to have Canyon County declared a disaster area. I have also sent a bill for more than $2 million to the Mexican government for the county's cost of serving Mexicans who live here illegally.

Robert Vasquez is a Canyon County Commissioner in Idaho who is running for Congress in the state's 1st congressional district. I don't know his political affiliation. I wonder if his fight back tactics will meet with success?

Amen! We need more politicians like this one. Like I said, I don't know his political affiliation but he definitely has the right position on immigration.

He's a Republican. Here is an excerpt from an interview he did with the Dallas Morning News (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/points/stories/DN-vasquez_28edi.ART.State.Edition1.42b7464.html):

Q: What about those who say you, as a Hispanic, are playing into the hands of anti-Hispanic racists?

A: Perhaps that is a comment made by the racist organization La Raza – which means "the race." How could anybody take claims of racism made by a group that defines itself by race seriously?

I give him a perfect 10. A hard hitting piece by someone who is fighting in the trenches rather then just laying in them.

Yes, he needs money. I notice the Club for Growth is backing his opponent in the Republican Primary so campaign money will definitely be an issue.

It is interesting that of the four candidates that the Club for Growth has asked me to support so far this year, two of them have been running against strong immigration enforcement candidates. The other the Club for Growth is supporting is a guy named Campbell who is running against the Minuteman Jim Gilchrist for Chris Cox's seat in California. Well, what would you expect from an organization started by Stephen Moore.

Just send all the illegals to Texas, our gracious governor will accept, oh probably 2 billion of them.....after all he graciously accepted 250,000 NO refugees, what's a few more welfare recipients, lawbreakers, sexual predators, legal or illegal. He accepts them all and he gladly supplies all their needs, medicaid, food stamps, anything else their little heart desires. (major sarcasm?hmmm)

There is hardly anybody who is somebody in California that hasn't endorsed Campbell. I do not know much about the Club for Growth or Stephen Moore. However, if it's anything like the "New Majority", a collection of wealthy GOP Big Tent RINOs, liberals and moderates, then I want no part of them. They hijacked the conservative Orange County Republican organization and have been systematically replacing the conservatives with the Big Tent nitwits.
