VERONICA'S VEIL, BALI AND ISLAM
Sierra Times ^ | 10/4/2005 | Anthony C. LoBaido

Posted on 10/04/2005 7:04:09 AM PDT by ElCapusto

My beautiful and sweet late mother Viola used to wear a veil to church on Sunday. I thought it gave her a certain mystique like Jean Simmons in The Robe. My mom looked just like Queen Rania of Jordan, only with red hair and green eyes -- or even Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca.

So now when I look around at London, the WTC, Madrid, Bali I and (today) Bali II, I feel so, so sad. Because this is not the Islam I saw when I lived in Cyprus, Jordan and Lebanon as a journalist.

This is not the Islam of Petra, the Dead Sea, Baalbeck, Jerash and Aqaba.

This is not the Islam which nurtured me as I retraced Lawrence of Arabia’s World War I trek.

These bombers are not the people I met in Turkey while searching out a story on the Biblical Noah’s Ark. At the tiny village of Kazan, the home some say of Noah’s anchors, I tried for a long time to convince the locals many in the West didn't believe Noah’s Ark was a real event. They simply could not fathom it. Their response: “People who don’t believe in Noah’s Ark are just stupid.”

The people that I met in the Middle East were for the most part kind and good and moral. They were soft spoken and polite. They were EVERYTHING sane and even opposite of the filthy culture which has now colonized our beloved America. Muslims can be proud of their traditional morals and the fact they are the last barrier to world government. But sending heroin from Afghanistan and the Bekka Valley to the UK is not moral. How many lives destroyed?

Of course taking slaves in Sudan and Mauritania is not moral. And we all know that killing in the name of God is not moral.

I saw the Hezbollah museum at Baalbeck and it was really sickening. They are proud of their murders like so many abortion doctors in their neat lab coats, carrying clipboards on their roach errands.

Yes, we in the West may have the Spice Girls, Sharon Stone’s crotch in Basic Instinct, Paris Hilton and the rest of the wickedness. But that is the flesh and you cannot kill the flesh permanently. You can only try and crucify it every day.

Islamic bombs cannot stop GE foods, cloning, the madness of Madison Avenue, Cosmo, Desperate Housewives, Sex in the City, late-term abortion nor the cracking of the human genome. It cannot stop Paris Hilton from being tolerate and even lionized, nor Bill and Hillary. Consider that the age of consensual sex in Spain is now 12. This is the nation that brought Catholicism to the Western Hemisphere. Does that help you understand how far it has all gone down the toilet?

Consider Planned Parenthood gave away free abortions after 9-11 “to help people cope". Did you see the Decadence Fest around the dead bodies of Louisiana after Katrina? Think of Lot and the angels and those blinded.

So please stop bombing us, Islam. Look at your own sins. Let us look at our own sins as well.

Remember please; we cannot stop President George Bush Jr. from doing things like bringing Ozzie O. in the White House to fete him and say, “Mom loves your stuff, Ozzie.”

We cannot stop him from joking about his drinking binges in New Orleans as a youth while people were dying during Katrina.

Who really knew what he was all about in 2000? We thought he would be an antidote to Clinton’s filth. We thought Iraq would be a natural ally against Bin Laden.

You see, the cultural collapse in the West overwhelms politics. We don’t need Islam to tell us we’re the Great Satan. We see the evil around us every day. It's not just America. It's the whole world.

We’re not that lost or that stupid, no matter what Hollywood tells you. Look at Mel Gibson’s film and how many people watched it. There are many good people in my country. Brave, strong, courageous, generous, putting others first, noble, heroic.

Please pray for us instead of bombing us -- for our souls are in mortal danger. The real bombs are going off in our minds, hearts and spirits. This is open warfare and the stakes are not for Halliburton and Exxon and the emerging global civilization. The stakes are for our eternal souls. This is the real silent war.

Muslims often cry, “God is great!” -- and that is true.

But God is so much more than simply great. God is primarily good. Righteousness os not about feeling good. It’s about being good.

Saint Veronica was a brave woman who stayed with Jesus to the very end. She forced her way through the Roman soldiers to wipe His face with her famous veil. This was done during Christ's darkest hours. So to we must ask Veronica to wipe our faces in this, our darkest hour -- so-called postmodern culture. This in order to reveal who we're meant to be beyond our sins and to find our true destiny. Before it is too late.

As my late mother used to say; being good is everything. It is the only thing.

Until the American people wake up to the fact that this war is indeed against islam and our PC political class is out of their collective minds, we will be on the losing end! The political class (and that now amounts to millions) need to have their feet held to the fire in order to shock some sense into their mushy heads.

Spain was also the Western foothold for Islam centuries ago.

Mad Man Mo' had sex with a pre-teen wife of his. His supporters defend this by saying he was married to her for a couple years before they had sex.

Different god, Bub. Allah isn't G-d.

The god of Islam is the one that likes murder and rape and hate and destruction.

Allah hates the Judeo/Christian G-d and he hates Christians and Jews.

My comment was addressed to you, but I meant it for the author of that article. Ooops.

President Bush did not invite Osbourne to the White House Correspondents Dinner..I believe it was Greta Von Sustern who had him as a guest.

Islamonazism strikes against all that is not muslim (and some that is not the "same" Islam they follow).

There are wars against Jews, Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus.

Left wing socialists use Islamonazism to decry all religion ("Their moralizing is no better than the Taliban leadership").

Just because there is sin in the Western world does not mean that all Westerners support the policies of the leftists social engineers.

The media is alligned with the left.

If the reporting were more honest, everyone would at least admit that abortion stops a beating heart (it is not just a mass of tissue). We would all know that 45 million babies have been murdered. We could still debate the relative merits of this procedure but for now, it is unthinkable to even establish "when life begins". The answer is known, they don't want to have to deal with the consequences of that knowledge.

There is a lot of misreporting here:

Remember please; we cannot stop President George Bush Jr. from doing things like bringing Ozzie O. in the White House to fete him and say, “Mom loves your stuff, Ozzie.”

We cannot stop him from joking about his drinking binges in New Orleans as a youth while people were dying during Katrina.

W. is not "Junior". Albert Gore Jr. was the true "Junior" of the 2000 campaign.

Ozzy, not Ozzie; who invited him, etc.

And did he joke about drinking binges in New Orleans or was this meanspirited urban rumors like the photoshopped images of him fishing and playing guitar in NOLA?

Do Muslims believe in Noah's Ark?

Or is this some hybrid form of Islam, like Louis Farrakhan's (he was citing the "number of the beast" but how can Revelations foretell the Second Coming when muslims deny the first?)

That one about the drinking binges was new ..I hate when the substance of the article is clouded by exaggeration, misinformation, rumor, and lies.

Islam is a decidedly AntiChristian faith. Don't know if Mo' was the AntiChrist (false Christ) but he was AN antiChrist because he has led the flock astray.

Islam is the only religion in the world that acknowledges the existence of Jesus Christ yet denies His divinity, denies His crucifixtion, and denies His ressurection.

Islam cannot undergo a reformation movement because Mohammed was the "last prophet". Those who attempt to defang Islam are considered unbelievers and mere mortals messing with the "true faith".

The only reformation option for muslims is to reject Mohammed's bastardized Bible and return to the original text either accepting Jesus and following Christianity or sticking to the Old Testament as Jews.

The muslims he met were kind to his face, but would butcher him in a heartbeat if they thought they could get away with it.

The whole tone of the article strikes me as being too down on Western civilization (including the remark about genetically engineered foods) and very apologetic.

I call the extremism Islamonazism because it shares several aspects with the German Nazis (including a superiority complex, antisemitism, and brutal violence). Islamofascism is a misnomer. Islam is a political system (as well as a religion) but is their system fascist?

9-11 was a horrible series of attacks but it was a cowardly deed (I differ with the opinion of Bill Maher). The terrorists (I differ with AP and am willing to call them this) murdered a handful of people directly (pilots, stewardesses) and blindly killed thousands.

The Beslan attacks were far more brutal (longer situation and raping and murdering hundreds of school kids) yet they merit scant remembrance in the press.

"We thought Iraq would be a natural ally against Bin Laden."

Don't know where he ever got this notion seeing as how Saddam funded international terrorism (like suicide bombers' families in Israel).

And I thought that there is "no" link between Saddam and OBL. Certainly Saddam referred to the US as the Land of Great Satan throughout the 1990s. Saddam could hardly be counted on to ally with us against OBL.

Beslan did not happen here..and therefore is off the radar now..People seem to move on ...even after 911 and not recognize what we are fighting.

Abu Ghraib is more important to the press.

Islam is the religion of peace. Trust me. (/sarcasm)

The Koran tells good Muslims to slay infidels where ever they find them. I'm sick of Muslim apologists lying to me.
