HADITHA, Iraq - U.S. troops pushed through streets sown with bombs Tuesday in their biggest operation this year in western Iraq, seeking to retake three Euphrates River towns from al-Qaida insurgents. A

At least five U.S. service members have been killed in the fighting.

Operation River Gate — launched at the start of the holy month of Ramadan — was the second U.S. offensive in a week in Anbar province, near the Syrian border. Al-Qaida in Iraq called for intensified attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces during the Muslim period of fasting, which started Tuesday for the nation's Sunnis.

IAQ is calling on those still in Iraq to get themselves killed. Notice the article does not have the capabilities to provide after action reports nor would they want to since their readership would read about how the insurgents, foreign terrorist are getting their as$es whipped. The few that hold up to fight, probably since have no place to run either get Abram tank rounds into their buildings, Bradely 25mm chain gun rounds and or aircraft JDAMS dropped from above on them. The Iraqi army and Marines move street by street and kill them as they try to fight. Those that run like rats, either hide and will get it next week as the raids continue or they are going to be captured. Of course when they are captured the squeal and cry like little babies and spill their guts out about who is who and who is where.

Now taint that a bit better accurate reporting. And I am not even in country.

Interesting how that "Iraq Violence" kills our troops. That way no enemy to hate in the headline.

Those who fight for freedom sometimes pay the ultimate price. These proud men enlisted!!! They beleived in what they were fighting for. God bless the souls of those who fight for the freedom of the living and die in the process. At some point we will have the opportunity to shake their hands!!! There is an appointment we will all keep.

This war should be fought with B-52 strikes and razed villages, not infantry. The blood of every dead US soldier is on Bush's hands.

It is indeed a vague and short article, which ommits almost any useful data. Still, it was the only one available.

The other articles by AP give a long account of a whole lot of disparate incidents which are linked only that they happened in Iraq.

Interesting how that "Iraq Violence" kills our troops.

I think that they are keeping themselves covered, as to whether the deaths are classified as accidents, casualties etc.

M.O. of Big Media concerning all news reports coming out of Iraq is to place huge emphasis on American or Iraqi civilian deaths and casualties and either never mention army or Marine operational successes or put them way back in the story. I don't know how many of these types of "honest" reports I've read since the invasion. It's rare to read one that says something like "Army/Marines kill(s) large numbers of insurgents" or "Army/Marine operation unqualified success". Fallujah was one such unqualifed success, and the papers I read gave it scant coverage.

Even if an operation is successful, BM is more concerned that we might have unjustly killed some murdering terrorist scum in that operation than they are with the lives of our servicemen putting themselves in danger for their country. The enemy in our midst is as dangerous as the enemy shooting at us overseas.

I wrote BM deliberately, and I'm totally serious about how I view the mainstream media as much a threat to America as the Islamo-fascists. No one on this forum has to be informed about how pernicious our liberal media elites are to the welfare of our country. I've seen the rise of these anti-American/anti-western civilization creeps from the sixties on. We have to battle them and find ways to lessen their rotten influence on America. Shining the light of truth on these cockroaches is one way.

Amen! to that.

....the majority of people are either too ignorant, too stupid, too busy, or simply just don't care what is happening to this nation and those self-imposed 'elitists' who always seem to think they know what's best. Well, they can go screw themselves.

Clearly the L/MSM game is to descredit the POTUS through any means possible. Nothing we can do about it. Knowledge extracts a price. And the price is often a bitter pill to swallow. Honesty is truly a virtue few news media organizations possess.
