There is already a thread going on this:

>>I was really hoping the Gilchrist would pull it off.
He pulled off what he needed to force a runoff in December.
Campbell was the odds on favorite, but didn't get the 50%+ for an out-and-out win in the primary.
There will now be a runoff between the top contender from each party:
JOHN CAMPBELL (REP)
STEVE YOUNG (DEM)
JIM GILCHRIST (AI)
BÉA TIRITILLI (GRN)
JOHN CAMPBELL (REP) 36640 46.0% JIM GILCHRIST (AI) 11490 14.4% STEVE YOUNG (DEM) 7110 8.9% BÉA TIRITILLI (GRN) 698 0.9% BRUCE COHEN (LIB) 667 0.8%
What? Nobody voted for J.Scott Davis?
You beat me too it!
While immigration policy is important, this shows pretty clearly that a one-issue candidate (immigration) is a loser, and only can pull a small fraction of the complete electorate.
That issue is part of a larger constituency and consensus, but even in a state very harmed by illegal immigration, it's not a winner in itself.
Some Freepers need to come back from Fantasy Island and see that.
There is a candidate who received about 10% of the vote listed as "AI". What party is that?
lmao

Is the American Independent Party a descendant of the George Wallace third party party from 1968? Is it an affiliate of the Constitution Party?
Yes, Wallace ran on the AI ticket in '68.
I don't believe there is an affiliation with the Constitution Party.
Here's all you need to know about the AI Party... this is the Number One Party Pledge, from their website:
"Stop the undeclared wars which are daily costing American lives and billions of tax dollars"
Correction to Post 14:
"The American Independent Party has had ballot status in the state of California since 1968 and is still active there. It is the state affiliate for the national Constitution Party."
From Wikipedia.
That is Jim Gilchrist, the (border) Minuteman founder.
