Members arrested last year after confrontation with 'militant gays'

A Christian group whose protest of a Philadelphia homosexual event one year ago resulted in criminal charges for some of its members will be present again tomorrow at the annual celebration despite threats of violence.

Repent America says it will be on the streets of Philadelphia to "minister the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ and to take a stand against the public celebration of sin" at "OutFest 2005."

As WorldNetDaily reported, on Oct. 10, 2004, Repent America had a group of 11 Christians at the event, preaching to a crowd and displaying banners with biblical messages.

After a confrontation with a group called the Pink Angels – described by protesters as "a militant mob of homosexuals" – the Christians were arrested and spent a night in jail.

None of the Pink Angels was cited or arrested, but four of Repent America members individually were charged with three felonies and five misdemeanors and faced up to 47 years in prison and $90,000 in fines each.

In February, a judge dismissed all criminal charges.

This year, a group identifying itself as "Anti-Racist Action" posted a press release on its website stating it would "stop Repent America from disrupting the National Coming Out Day Block Party by any means necessary!"

Michael Marcavage, Repent America's director, said he believes it's not an empty threat, because that group has attacked some of his members and destroyed property.

"The Philadelphia police must not allow, as they did at last year's 'OutFest', others to violate the law through interference and harassment during our evangelistic street meetings," Marcavage said.

Marcavage added that this year his group will have an ex-homosexual "to testify how he was set free from the bondage of sin through the power of the blood of Jesus Christ."

The group that runs "OutFest," Philly Pride Presents, Inc., receives $22,500 from the City of Philadelphia for such events, Repent America said.

Let me see-- last year the reprobates did not want a closed
event-but wanted everybody out--(except the Christians) and they had the help of the police and of the lower Courts. The
message sent was it is ok to be Christian in the city of brotherly love so long as you are Only a Christian within the confines of the church of your choice. The live and let live-tolerance idea was tested long before there was an America. Bringing about the utter (to this day) of Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities of the plain. Some time later a
similar event took place in a town named Gibbeah where the
local magistrates should have known God and the example of Sodom and Gomorrah yet chose to wink and nod at the worthless ones in their midst even to the point of the denial of justice when the reprobates gang raped and murdered a Priests' concubine thus leading to a bloody civil war. As recognized at the Constitutional Convention by George Mason ,Aug.22,1787 and affirmed by Luther Martin
Jan.27,1788 "As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in this world -so they must be in the next.By inevitiable chain of causes and effects Providence punishes national sins by national calamities."(as seen documented in Scriptural examples cited. --WHY invite such destruction in these United States?Have we fallen so far from the Truth?)

I think the freaks will try to take the Christians' camera away this time, so I hope they'll have a disguised infiltrator with some video equipment off to the side this time. Otherwise, they won't have proof when the cops haul them off to jail again.

I disagree with the tactics being used here.

We fought for the right of the Boy Scouts to exclude gays under the concept of freedom of association. And we were upset as municipalities the Boy Scouts from public facilities.

Now, the gays have their own event using public facilities. Don't you think these folks are denying the gays their freedom of association by barging into the event against the will of the organizers and those attending?

Protest at the edge of the event if they want. But realize that freedom of association applies to everyone, not just your side.

We fought were forced to fight for the right of the Boy Scouts to exclude gays homosexual pederast scout leaders under the concept of freedom of association. And we were upset as municipalities BANNED the Boy Scouts from public facilities.

There, now the 1st paragraph is more accurate.

Now, the gays have their own event using public facilities. Don't you think these folks are denying the gays their freedom of association by barging into the event against the will of the organizers and those attending?

"freedom of association" has nothing to do with exercising ones constitutional rights.

"freedom of association" has nothing to do with exercising ones constitutional rights.

Freedom of Association is also a Constitutional right - implied in the First Amendment - and that is EXACTLY HOW the Boy Scouts gained the right to exclude gays under a SCOTUS ruling. We fought long and hard for that one. And keep having to fight for it as governments exclude the Boy Scouts from public facilities.

And now these folks want to undermine the concept of freedom of association. I think this approach is wrong. Protest at the edge. Create your own space for protest. But respect the right to freedom of association - which includes the right to exclude, as exercised by the Boy Scouts.

Or do basic rights only apply to our side and not to theirs?
