If I win the lottery I'm starting the Conservative Party. They already have one in NYC. It's not perfect by red state standards but it's more conservative than the Republican party in many blue states. The problem is that a more conservative party will not be viable until there is more of a realignment (I have the suspicion that we are alread seeing the disintigration of the Democrat party) or until there is a four party situation. All voting for a non-Republican conservative does right now is put a Democrat in office.

As to CFR, that was only a violation of the Constitutuion. No big deal.. Antonin Scalia didn't think so.
Did you think so?

The Republican Party can't afford to turn off the conservative base or it can kiss its future goodbye. Conservatives don't have to vote Democrat. They are big enough to form their own party now. The "conservative base", as it is now constituted, is not large enough to do anything but act as spoiler and hand elections to Democrats. That is the reality.

My opinion of CFR doesn't matter.
